Joseph Wilson she basically presented this really happy front to the punters and seemed really collected, but behind closed doors she relied on drink because Den repeatedly cheated on her and their marriage was breaking down. She was always in love with Den but he didn’t love her back which is why she eventually drank herself to an early grave

Public tv! I remember when my PBS statio aired it. They showed a dozen episodes per night to catch us up to the BBC. Then when we were about 6 months behind, they began showing less episodes and we fell behind. The last time I watched it, was several years ago at the start of the Johnny Allen saga. By then we were about 10 yrs behind the BBC

She was so good, it's amazing to think she was only on the show for 3 years and yet she's one of its most famous characters. There are actors who have been on the show for 30 years who didn't make the same kind of mark.

Den and Angie were my teen years. And yes, I thought Anita Dobson was on the show for longer too. Remarkable acting, creating an iconic character. Often people used to say "soap" actors can't act, in this case, they were so wrong. @@th8257 the trouble is, in the 80s, a lot of actors and actresses had been in theatre beforehand so their acting came across very theatrical on television. Just imagine the same performance on a big stage. Totally different standards but difficult to translate from stage to television.

Boy this scene with an Iron is amazing! In The US you don't see folks ironing. Back in the day Nancy Hughes would prepare Coffee or even Breakfast for her Family on As The World Turns but that poor Iron was going through the ringer. Did any of you ever see the scene on The Young & The Restless when Jack Abbott acquired Jabot back in 1999 after Victor Newman took it over in 1989 in a Hostile Takeover. He saw that Jack and his Co-Hort Brad Carlton "owned" his Business and he threw the Painting of him and Brad down, then took a Pencil and screamed "I Will Crush You!" It was considered to be not only one of the best Soap Scenes in Y & R History but of all time.

Lisa Fowler was a victim of Phil Mitchell 2.0, the Phil that came after Grant had betrayed him. Phil had been going off the rails with his alcoholism and guilt over the car lot fire in 94 for a good few years but Grants affair with Kathy pushed him over the edge and he was never the same after that. From late 99 onwards, he became very selfish and hate filled and by late 2000, he was totally twisted, having a one night stand with Mel etc.
