its a big factor why they end up losing in the end tbh. The germans lost almost all of their best equipment to take on the soviets garbage equipment. By the time the front stalls the germans are too tired and stretched too thin, and without the momentum to really push any further, and eventually get rolled back to germany proper by 43

These statistics do not take into account the losses of Germany's allies: Italy, Romania, Hungary, Finland. They also actively participated in military operations on the Eastern Front and suffered losses. It should also be borne in mind that out of 11.5 million Soviet losses, 3.5 million were soldiers who died in German captivity. The Germans deliberately did not provide them with adequate food and medical care. According to the Nazi Ost plan, the population in the occupied part of Russia had to be reduced by 20 million and Jews, Gypsies, communists, military personnel and their family members were the first target for destruction. The destruction was planned to be carried out not only in a direct way, but also by creating unbearable living conditions. My opinion that is part of the reason for Stalingrad being surrounded and the German 6th army being trapped. @@theggfloupin4084 I never said it would help take the city, but prevent the flanks outside the city from being destroyed. Preventing the USSR from completely surrounding Stalingrad. Because in our timline there were essentially no German units on the flanks outside the city. Only under equipped and lower trained Romanian and Hungarian troops. Before the city was surrounded on November 22, 1942 there was nearly 200,000 German troops, over 1,100 tanks, and 1,000 aircraft in the Caucasus. If most of those troops and material were to instead shore up the flanks outside of Stalingrad it could have prevented the encirclement.

Moreover. Those later '45 losses were mostly POWs that had a real solid chance to return home after some "enforced labour" to rebuild the cities.

In fact, the losses are almost equal to 11,400,000 vs 8,650,000+ (1.6 million prisoners), it’s just that when calculating the losses, the Volksturm, police, collaborators ~ 1.5, 2 million who were directly involved in hostilities were not taken into account, so it turns out that the ratio is approximately 1.1 to 1 only on the eastern front. 17-25 million people who died in the USSR are civilians who were exterminated, so now beloved and supported in Europe by the Nazis.

This conveniently forgets the fact the 2/3 of Russia troop transport vehicles (~300,000 trucks) and over 1/2 of their aviation fuel was given by the United States. The Russians never had an economy that could handle a determined German invasion. This lack of economic/logistic responsibilty even haunts Russia to this day; for the Ukraine invasion of 2022, they used a pathetic 4,000 trucks, many of which had rotten wheels, for logistics and troop transport.
