Mastering Basic Bonsai Techniques by Jason Chan
www.easternleaf.com
In this video, we discuss the tools needed to complete this technique as well as the set up on your bonsai tree. With this technique at your disposal, you'll be able to bend branches that you originally thought were not possible to bend. Guy wire is a great technique to bend heavy branches with little effort.

Thank you friend for the advice I particularly like the fact that you used plastic tubing to protect the branches.

Hey Jason! I just love you channel, I really like it! I've been watching your channel for a little bit because I'm interesting in star with my bonsai tree, but my first question will be... Can I have a Bonsai Tree indoor? Because I live in Montreal, and the winter is so hard and cold... If I can, what will be the right type of plants and the season to start with it? Thank for all the information you're giving us... Amazing job!

How about showing how to use an alternative anchor point, like the holes in the pot or some sort of stake type anchoring point? Then the twist is somewhere in the middle. Thanks for your videos.

Hi Jason, I recently subscribed to your channel and love your knowledge sharing. I have a query on the type of black plastic pot you are using. These seem common among bonsai nurseries as well as bonsai artists and I was wondering if the regular black pots have any advantage over ready made / self made air pruning pots or plastic mesh trashcans, fitted with a cheap landscape fabric or walmart bag ? Have you tried fabric pots or net pots like those made by Rediroots ? I am myself a fan of colanders & net baskets, and judging by youtube videos, I wonder why air pruning pots are not popular in the bonsai community, worlwide. Thanks for your perspective on this, Jason.

You can attach it to the pot- punch holes in it if it is plastic. Or, you can attach it to the thickest root available and convenient.

What if you were to slide a nail or something thru the middle of the loop and basically rotate that to do the tightening in a sort of "stick & bandage tourniquet " style, so-to-speak? Is there any reason why that would be a bad idea?

You would do better with some pliers with a larger mouth. I have electrical pliers from my trade that allow me to twist wires with 1 hand a little easier. Any tips for trees without Jins?
