Oh man, where to start. I sold it - And I shouldn't have.
I've owned 3 different Eastman guitars over the past 2 years - completely different models, but they all were incredibly well crafted. None of them has disappointed me. The feel, fit and finish and the sounds - it punches way above it's class. If you're looking for a double cut single p90 junior, and want to be sure to have a vintage feeling and playing instrument - this is certainly a good place to start, if not the best. I watched about every single demo of this model on youtube, and I have yet to come across one who disagrees.
Gear used:
Amp: Fender Tonemaster Deluxe
Effects:
- Strymon Flint
- Greer Lightspeed
- Greer Royal Velvet
- Mythos High Road
- Boss dm2-w
- Ditto Looper
Interface: Audient ID44
DAW: Logic Pro X
Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE - it will help me immensely to keep me motivated to put out future videos.

What gorgeous playing, music and musical soul you have. I didn’t even feel like I was listening to a guitar for any instrument specifically. You were just pure music and pure musical message. Just wow. By the way. I have the very first Eastman 55 that landed in the south eastern part of the United States. I used to own a 1958 Les Paul Junior that I bought from guitarist Lesley West in 1991. I sold it because it would never end Tony. I like the Eastman much better. You are so incredibly connected musically. Thank you.

So I watched this video, fell in love with the music and playing, then fell in love with the guitar. So I scroll through all of the comments and discover that the Chris Effort dude is a really nice and classy guy. If I was rich I'd buy you five of these dude, you deserve them. Hopefully, you have a guitar that you still bond with. You are much too gifted to not play. So you've piqued my interest in this guitar man. I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind: I am an intermediate player but LOVE to play. I learned something about myself over the last several years, and one thing I know is, I will never ever ever own a 'pre-distressed' or relic guitar. I hate the fact that Eastman makes their single cut Junior as an obvious relic on the guitar where the elbow lays. But, I don't see any relicing on this DC? I might see some 'dis-shading' going on on the back of the guitar, but nothing that screams distress or relic on the front? Would you agree? And now, the million dollar question - neck profile. As much as I thought I would love a big beefy neck (I have an AVRI Tele from Wildwood with the fattest roasted maple neck you've ever held!) ... I am learning I kinda don't. It's the single only reason why I have not hit the buy button on Reverb for the Epiphone LP Junior (well, I've had some bad luck with frets on an older Epi, purchase new, won't get into it) but I am confident the quality from Eastman should allay any fears. But that new Epi has the baseball bat neck. What are your thoughts on the neck feel? I don't say profile but I really don't know what profile is, LOL. All I know is fat vs thin! Any tuning stability problems? Anyway dude, you have a wonderful gift of music and talent, thank you for sharing, my friend!
@ChrisEffort
@ChrisEffort Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much RJ! Your comment really made my day. There is no distressing on the guitar per say, but the varnish they use does make it look and feel a bit worn in. The neck is a big’ish c neck - not fat in my estimation. I do love a fat ‘ol neck and I remember thinking that I wished that the neck was bigger on the SB55. The tuning was great, absolutely no issues with the example I had. It’s a killer killer guitar, light and responsive. That Tele of yours sound intriguing! Fat roasted neck… Mmm mm mm

I have let a lot of guitars go that I would’ve loved to keep. But ya’ know, sometimes life kinda asks for other priorities and compromises has to be made. I really liked this guitar, but it was an impulse purchase that I really couldn’t justify at the time. But honestly - I love buying and selling guitars to expand my experience with as many different guitars as possible. It’s fun! But not fun when you can’t afford keeping them all :’/ at least they will live here forever as little memories. I like that. Thank you for your comment.

Thank you Patrick! It really is. I’ve had 3 Eastman over the past 2 years and they have all blown me away. Not a single dud amongst them. This had to go when I found a guitar I’ve been on the hunt for, for a long long time. But I’m pretty confident if I purchase one again it will be equally as great. Eastman seem very consistent in their quality. I have had the chance to try a few of their acoustics as well, both higher end and lower priced models and they were amazing.

Being a musician first and ‘collector’ second, I’ve learned to always have a higher priced ‘collectible’ guitar in my arsenal. If push comes to shove, I can always sell that ‘collectible’ for top dollar and not have to sell my guitars that I truly love for a price that can’t cover the long terms effect of losing an instrument; Meaning, by losing a priceless instrument being so right for me, would end up hurting my creative output... Ultimately hurting my finances. Funny how that works.
@ChrisEffort
@ChrisEffort 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. It makes absolutely sense in your case. I’m usually not very sentimental around my gear, I’m not a collector nor do I live of playing, I consider myself more of a ‘tryer’ - And sometimes it happens that I sell a spectacular guitar to finance another piece of gear. I just love trying different instruments, but who knows - someday I might find the one I can’t live without.
