Sir Richard... You're sooooo right about the "volume knob and the overdrive"! I always fan my Marshall up to "Break-up" / Distortion level and used my "Volume Knob" to control my sound! Your LOVE of the instrument is VERY APARENT and it's a nice change of pace to see!!! Keep the faith and keep fighting the good fight! God bless and take care...

The loveliest thing about this video, for me - apart from the guitar itself - was seeing the pleasure that playing an instrument of this quality brought to you. Two opposing things are often said: 1) that you can play beautifully on a bad guitar and 2) that playing a good guitar helps you play beautifully. What struck me, watching this, was that you were enjoying the sounds you made so much that you wanted to carry on making them. That’s a wonderful incentive to practice and experimentation. This is a very good reason why you should do these quick videos, Richard, as well as your longer, reflective ones: they enable guitarists to see you, as a dealer, demonstrating how the instruments you sell work for you as a player. Brilliant. Keep ‘em coming.

I love Gibsons, but I'm not beholden to them. The tone of this Eastman is unbelievable. My guitar tech is a Gibson/Fender snob - he has a treasure trove of vintage and modern gear. When he plugged my Eastman 386 into his original 64 Super Reverb his jaw dropped right through the floor. I LOVE Eastman. I don't care where they're made - they rock big time! I just ordered an El-Rey, and I'll surely get one of these SB59's in the not too distant future!

Loved that your cranked the amp - but not too much. So many YT demos have sterile "clean" tones and they then fatten up (badly) with pedals. You've got the tubes saturated and the tone just sings. Almost any guitar would sound glorious through that amp the way you've got it set up.

I like the Eastman acoustics, but they supposedly have some quality control issues (like unsanded bracing). How have you found their QC? I'm currently wishing I could get one of their John Pisano archtops, which are beautiful. I was interested to see a comment you made about inconsistency of Martin guitars that you experienced in your former life. The SB59 is certainly lovely to look at!
@RichardsGuitarshop7 жыл бұрын
vKarl71 I can honestly say that is total nonsense. They are hand made, no cnc of any kind and use woods of the highest possible quality. compare that to the likes of Martin and Taylor whose guitars are mass produced and twice the price and you just cannot fault them. Where did you hear of such issues?

€1399 the trouble with is even though its hand made, if someone has that to spend they probably go buy a low to mid range Gibson.. people are obsessed with brands these days.

Not these days - Its the way of the World - always has been and always will be but my niche is in talking to people who prioritise quality and are proud of thinking outside of the mainstream (IE mass produced / mass marketed guitars). Thankfully with 7 billion people in the world even if 1% of guitarists are capable of looking beyond buying a guitar purely for a brand name - then I can still stay very very busy! Phew!!

I think you need to go play one, ive owned two les Paul’s and the SB 59 is built like a high end custom shop ala £5000 these guitars finger their nose at gibson as they prove consistantly that you don’t have to take out a second mortgage to own a high end single cut solid body guitar....oh and they sound great...I will let you into a secret I sat and watched a guitarist of legendary stature play a eastman SB 59 he was told it was chinese and he laughed till he plugged it into a marshall HW JCM 800 and within 3 minutes he looked at my mate and said how much mate this thing is better than any of my custom shop guitars.

Their website show the /V version with Antiquities, while this version is listed with Seymour Duncan 59's now... I wonder if they changed that recently or if this guitar actually has 59's? I thought Antiquities were aged in appearance? Just curious, because this sounds amazing...I have Eastman acoustics that I love!
@RichardsGuitarshop7 жыл бұрын
Just to confirm.... when I first played the guitar there was no official specification other than what I had discussed and memorised - so in classic fashion I got it wrong in the video I think. So.... The V = Antiquities and the standard is the 59s.

@@jerryx2000 Of course it would be ludicrous to comment on each individual guitar. My views are based on MASSIVE resentment toward the SEO for the past twenty years. If the staff hate the boss - what do you expect in terms of the end result. The result is and has been horrendous quality control issues - OFF the scale. Massive price hikes for terribly poor workmanship. So my views go across the board. If you want to buy a Gibson then you should speak to a Gibson dealer. Clearly if you want a Gibson then of course you SHOULD be able to find GREAT examples in the mix - so find someone you trust - get them to help you - and fingers crossed you will find what you need.

It certainly looks and sounds amazing but sweet Jesus that's one expensive Chinese made guitar.
@RichardsGuitarshop7 жыл бұрын
Dear of dear.... Can you ONLY focus on the word chinese? Have you never heard of PRS SE guitars? £900 mass produced chinese guitars?? We are talking THE highest quality woods - the highest quality hardware - HAND MADE using astonishing skills and NO CNC... just bare hands and tools. A guitar of this quality and produced in the same way would cost you many many many thousands of pounds if made in America. So YES its made in China so people can afford something they may not otherwise be able to. However its not "expensive" for a Chinese guitar - its stupidly cheap because its made in China - and in the West we should be grateful.
@rafaelbernal55477 жыл бұрын
Richards Guitars I wasn't actually criticizing the fact that it's made in China, rather making a statement. I understand a hand made guitar at that price IS a good deal for what it is. And the finishes on these certainly seem lovely, as well as the specs on it are solid. But it is $1,999 and $1,599 for both models respectively, and you can get an american made Carvin to your specifications for that amount, however, it won't be handmade with the same precision. That's where the Eastman value is. That I get I'll have to disagree on the comparison with PRS SE guitars as these are made in Korea where labor is quite a bit more expensive and consistent than in China, and despite being made with CNC, they're actually very thorough with their QC and the overall product is consistently good, for the price, which is still less than half the cost of that Eastman. Still, the Eastman seems like an amazing instrument with a custom shop feel to it, and If I'm ever able to try one, I might end up getting one for myself. Cheers mate.
@corneilledriezen49096 жыл бұрын
So it is, mate ! You are quite right - it's not a lower quality "Chinese" rubbish product but comparable with a high end American or European guitar and... I know what I am talking about !

@@ontherockofchrist Hi Lonnie. Sorry - you have lost me there. If you think that Eastman guitars have an inherant tuning issue I am telling you that you are incorrect. If you think its down to cheap machine heads - again you are incorrect. That was my point. Its not a case of opinion - its a fact. My point was that IF (which I believe) you had a tuning problem it was almost certainly down to the nut slots - maybe they were too tight - or maybe you changed the gauge of string? Many factors influence tuning but rest assured - on a guitar of this immense standing and quality they wouldnt destroy all the hard work hand making the guitars to save money on the machine heads - to the point they cannot stay in tune! Hope that helps.
