Even the ultra has backbone, that’s very impressive for a small splitter.

Genin’s early videos on this Ultra is what really caught the eyes on the benefits for a one man operation! You do not need a log lift! You still have to load the rounds to get them to the woodyard! That requires noodling in the field. I Watch Chris in the woodyard religiously but that didn’t sink in until Genin started making videos with the Ultra👊🏻

All great points! As I told Andrew in comments on an older video he did on this machine”My eyes have been opened” Simplicity at its finest! One man operation will get the most out of a machine like this. Well Done Genin👊🏻

Like any machine, throw 2-3 guys on this and straight wood and it’ll fly. But using it alone like most of us do, it’s pleasing to use and I don’t find myself saying “ gosh I really need a second set of hands”. Thanks for stopping by Todd!

Great Ultra description of the pros and cons Genin! I agree on the single wedge, sometimes depending on the type of wood it can actually be faster. Yep, don't like picking up already split wood, just a waste of time for sure.

I like the spray lube idea, I use PB blaster dry spray lube on my table saw sometimes and I like that pretty good. You could use a paste wax for wood finishing as well that will hold up better than the spray lubes, and it will protect it a better from the elements. Johnsons paste wax was the go to but its gone out of production, so minwax is what is use now

Man Genin…you got me second guessing my pick. I really want a 12-22 but seeing I’m a single man operation I don’t think I can use that large of a machine to its potential. Maybe the Ultra is what I really need. Ha Many thanks brother. Great video 🔥🪵
@765Guys2 ай бұрын
There is a lot of great things the 12-22 has. Box wedge and log lift, if those are a must for you then 12-22 is a solid choice. Cant go wrong with any of these commercial grade splitters though. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!

Very very good pros & cons video man!! I think the ultra has quite a few similarities to the super splitter but with more muscle but also more cost. I’d love to run an Ultra one day!! Great video Genin!!

I passed on an ultra for 6000 which was a great deal actually with the 4 way and the regular wedge would be 5350 plus tax and to where I live the shipping would be plenty. It had 2 hours on it but I’m retired and not sure if I’m cutting much longer. Otherwise it was impressive.

Nice Explanation Genin and well Constructed, If You are dealing with stringy wood like Elm the Single Wedge is the better Option, out of the EastonMade Splitters you have used which of them do you Like, 12-22 Ultra Axis which you were using at KNLS Wood Yard,
@765Guys2 ай бұрын
Out of all the eastonmade splitters I’ve used, the ultra is the one for me. I’m just a 1 man show and it fits what I’m doing and how I want to work. If I had a helper or 2 each time I split wood I’d definitely see the benefit in a 12/22 or similar splitter. I like the axis a lot as well I just prefer the traditional horizontal style splitter.
@FireStartersPremiumFirewood2 ай бұрын
Best value commercial splitter on the market, great video showing the pros and cons of the Ultra. Being a smaller startup operation at this point, I really struggled to decide between the 12-22, the Ultra and the Axis. Every wood yard is different in terms of budget, space, workflow and equipment and sourcing of wood. You can't go wrong with any of these commercial machines as long as you REALLY think through what your process will be now and in the near future. The great thing is that these things hold their value so well that you really can't get burned if you need to switch models down the road.
@765Guys2 ай бұрын
That’s exactly right on the value piece! What did you end up deciding on?
@FireStartersPremiumFirewood2 ай бұрын
I decided the Axis was the direction I needed to go for many reasons. I like the accuracy of the Axis for splitting bundle grade and mini firewood. I like the fact that you can produce and sort bundle grade, bulk firewood, cookies and scrap from each round with no need for grizzly bars or other methods of "cleaning" the wood. All of the slash ends up in a wheelbarrow right next to the bench and I feel like my back appreciates the working height especially as I get older. The log lift and the conveyor make it easy when you are solo for the day, eliminating the need to noodle down the big rounds. I don't go looking for much above 30" logs but plenty of them seem to find their way into my wood yard anyway. 😂 I will have it at HFH24 to pay it forward to the vets. Hope to see you there Genin.

I just recently purchased an ultra and I noticed mine has a square tube, welded to the uprights where the cylinder mounts to with a bolt in it didn’t know what that is for but I noticed yours did not have it I didn’t know if anybody else has it on theirs and curious on what it is actually for I use it to store my picaroon,

Mine does not, it is for an umbrella though. Thanks for watching and have fun with your new splitter!

The lighter weight of the Ultra is the reason that it doesn't have a log lift. It would be unstable and fall over.
