Oh, one thing: Did you let any of the layers dry or almost dry before adding the next?

Did you prepared canvas somehow? White paint or something? Or just put modeling paste on canvas?

@@monymiller4005 she is using oil, so no. She painted canvas with acrylic after using modelling paste. I use tile adhesive in a one gallon bucket for texture, it works well and is so cheap, instead of expensive modeling paste . Have fun painting and warm greetings from Canada!!

@tracik12774 жыл бұрын
hamsablue Canvas, acrylic modelling paste (impasto) roughly daubed onto canvas with painting knife or you can use lolly stick, an old credit card or similar, cut to smaller size if wanted. Allow to dry fully (overnight). Oil paint best for this technique as it can be ‘rubbed in’, a bit like shoe polishing. Acrylic will be harder to move around since it dries fast. Using a piece of rag, take small dabs of paint and apply as she demonstrates in random areas, building up as you go. It brings out the relief of the texture. Oil paint takes up to a week or so to dry.
@somipax4 жыл бұрын
@@tracik1277 Thank you, but an old creditcard or stick wouldn't give the same result as a small palett knife. You Will not get the random structure but more straight lines/figures. Try it yourself😃
@tracik12774 жыл бұрын
Somia Essaid True, but I wrote that so it’s an idea for an alternative if you don’t have a palette knife. I use a larger piece of shaped plastic if I want to texturise an area.

I just used your video as a guide. I used metallic acrylic and regular acrylic paints thinned with water and used lighter blues. I also used gel medium and a microfiber towel. I added silver leaf and it turned out amazing! Thanks! I really want to find that darker blue and go back in a bit but afraid I'll ruin it. I'll just put a dark blue frame on instead. Thanks!

Can people stop labeling speedpaints or painting process vids as "how to" 's ? Like, seriously. If you're not gonna explain how then don't call it a how-to, coz they're gonna make you figure it out yourself. Same thing with people labeling speedpaints as "tutorials" Cool painting thou

Yes I just tried this and couldn't not figure out how to do her technique, and I paint a lot
@T1tusCr0w3 жыл бұрын
It’s basically creating an uneven random surface using filler of some sort. Let it dry and you then use a dry brush approach. The shapes of the filler will create a sculptural style and stops for the dry paint. You then dab on and use the cloth to mix gradations of colour. Legitimately anyone can do it. But the difference of this and a real expressionist painting is night and day. You get what you pay for. You also can’t take shortcuts to being an artist and having the touch. This is a craft project, it is not art. I don’t say this in a way of malice, it is simply a fact. However it may still be a doorway into real art for many so who am I to denigrate it.
