That’s awesome! You’re smart for going out of your way to have easy access to your stuff. I purchased a Salamander Synergy triple 30 cabinet with acoustic transparent mesh steel door panels. It is never ‘in style’ so to speak, but I can remove the real panels with speed nuts for easy access. Over the years, that has been a welcome investment event time I need to get back there. Awesome set up man!

Waymon French I reviewed a single PB3000 and it sounded great in my 13’ x 19’ with 10’ ceiling. Dual PB3000 would be an awesome system in your room. No particular reason why I do not have plans to review the PB2000 other than I have a ton of gear I’m reviewing and I’m wanting to look at some new brands as well. It’s simply a matter of not having the time to review every model of every brand. I have a LOT of SVS videos on my channel.

We actually talked about that before we started on the build, but we just realized it would add an unnecessary expense to the project. Besides, it’s not uncommon for me to have speakers in front of the screen and I would hate for the screen to lift up and we forget they’re there, and knock over speakers. That would turn into a bad day pretty quickly

Wow! WOW!!! I really like this idea! Thanks for posting this in such detail! I plan to use an acoustically transparent screen in my new HT and while I have a door from the attic space into the front of the theater behind the screen I wanted a way to access the center speaker from the front. This resolves that issue entirely! One question, I notice you have sub-woofers behind the screen, do you see any issues with ripple in the screen during strong low bass? In my case only the center speaker will be behind the screen but I would be afraid those big subs would cause the screen to ripple. I'm really glad I found your channel,... well except for maybe the Oslo seats one, that one really pushed me over budget but given that I plan to retire in this new house and I want the seats to last, I may bite the bullet and go with those. At least the idea presented in this video doesn't cost anything and solves a big problem for me!

Was there a specific reason why you went with a metal latch setup for your screen? I ask because you have powerful speakers behind the screen pushing a lot of air. Wouldn't that rattle the metal latches?? Why didn't you go with a "quiet solution" (e.g. leather straps or rope...etc.)?? Very hard to do a "speaker behind the screen" on a preexisting room. This was the best way for you I guess. Or the only way. As opposed to creating a back room behind the screen where you could open up doors to get behind the speakers/electronics. Pretty ingenious your setup. And I guess the "behind the screen" setup is the best possible..if it's doable. For most it isn't. I wonder how many HT people don't even have dedicated rooms and use their living rooms or family rooms. The percentage. How many Have a setup at your level. And what the percentage is of people with the "Elite custom HT rooms" (e.g. custom designed by some ISF certified/CEDIA winning team....e.g. Theo Kalimirakis...with his $2M HT room/lobbies...likely 1%).

The JTR are still just in for review. My PB16’s are unplugged in the rear of my room. My speakers are about 1’ off the front wall. Very cool, but the latch seems a little unnecessary, and overly complicated... with the right pressure struts, I would think a couple of magnets would be enough to hold it down, wouldn't need to be too strong, and a little pull would raise it.... you would just have to make sure the struts and magnets match up.

Why would the light hurt your eyes if you are using a wall as your screen?

Some people paint the wall white, others like myself bought fabric and built my own screen while other buy a prebuilt screen. Each option will work.

with your money I would have made that latch and lift motorized with remote control or Elexa controlled .
@Youthman

Thanks Jeff but I was really hoping to use your money to do that. LOL actually I did consider it during the build. Although it would be cool, it’s really unnecessary. I go behind the screen maybe once a month. And since our reviews so many speakers, there are many times there are speakers in the way of the screen and if someone were to accidentally hit the open screen button on the remote, it would knock over the speakers and that would not make for a good day
