The second, the slipped Buntline Hitch, has been used in sailing, & beyond, for centuries. It pops untied after loading with little difficulty.

Very clever, but why not use either a bowline or an anchor bend? Both have been around for centuries and are tried and tested. Millions of seafarers can't be that wrong!
@cenkersoy5 ай бұрын
Unlike the second knot, the bowline is not quick release. You would have to force the knot in opposite direction and try to untangle etc. which is hard to do after towing a vehicle.

This was filmed like a John Wick fight scene, the camera didn't move. Had this been filmed like a scene from Jason Bourne, it would have started with a rope, the camera would have jump cut 19 times and you'd end up looking at the completed knot with no idea how to tie it. Kudos to you.

To the person who was led here to learn how to tie a knot to kill yourself- I’ve been there- just take a moment, and take a deep breathe in and out. Repeat this 3 times and say “I am good enough, I am loved, I have a purpose”. Even if you don’t agree with these words keep saying it and repeating it out loud to yourself. Hold your hand on your heart and feel that heart beat in your chest. That heart beat used to be a tiny heart beat forming in the womb of your beautiful mother. You know that laugh you have? That cheeky smile? Your dad has dearest memories of you as a little boy or girl running around their legs, happy, care free giggling and laughing. God made you perfect. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Remember the people who love you. Even if it isn’t family, but a friend, or your pet cat or dog or bird. Don’t leave them behind with a broken heart. They need you and we all need you to stay alive. Tomorrow will be a better day. God loves you pray to him and tell him how you feel and he will send angels to protect you and uplift you. You are loved never forget that ❤

I hate to bring negativity here but people are very different what works for one doesn’t another your suggestion back when I was in a bad spot would have had the opposite effect especially repeating to myself something I don’t believe especially as a man that will mess with your pride quick if you are reading this and are at your wits end get help therapy helps many but even simple meditation and inward thought can do it but they make you confront yourself which is good but at the wrong time can be devastating. Sorry for the run on sentence.

Why do these guys think they need to point at the end of the rope when they're tying a knot?
@franklunt89759 ай бұрын
It seems to me that you've just added levels of complexity to simple but very useful and effective knots. I've seen vids of the second knot without any of the extra turns and bends that were equally safe, secure and easily undone - time waster.
@JohnGreen_US2 ай бұрын
The second knot is a slipped Buntline Hitch. You did not see an easier version of THAT knot as it is always tied as shown. It's a Clove Hitch wrapped with the working end being cinched toward the attachment point. It's strong, secure, cinches tight, and easy to untie. It doesn't get much easier than two wraps & a tuck for a knot that provides those features.

Like so many other knot-tying videos, at a vital moment as at 0:38 here, the videomaker forgets that people can’t see through their hand. The movement that causes this may be natural to the instructor, but it defeats the purpose of doing the video in the first place. Also, the camera isn’t close enough to the work, so 90% of the screen real estate is wasted.
