I just wanted to say that I love the way you teach your videos-so easy to understand. I am making baby blankets for my church. We have a Missionary Closet that visiting Missionaries can take what they need on their journeys. I made a ribbed one, and one with shells. This project looks like it would be nice for a baby blanket, also. Thanks for helping me learn new stitches. Have a Wonderful & Blessed Day!

That's great Kaylyn! You may want to consider using a 100% cotton yarn if you are making functional dishcloths though. Acrylic yarn will tear up when scrubbing, whereas cotton will hold up to the toughest pots and pans!

I just started to learn to crochet last weekend. This is the second tutorial of yours that I've come across and you are a wonderful teacher! I'm trying to make a basic square but it's turning into a triangle. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but you mentioned doing a single chain after you flip your work over and I was doing the chain then turning it over. I skipped some stitches too. Trying to practice at least 10 minutes a day, can only get better in time!
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 4 жыл бұрын
Not to worry Karen! This is just part of the learning curve. You are most likely not working the stitches at the end of the row or perhaps skipping the first stitch or even some in between. The best way to cure this is to count the stitches across in each row. As long as your stitch count remains constant, you will end up with a square. I hope this helps!

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my hands so I have took up crocheting several years ago when I retired. I have made many blankets and throws for gifts but I wanted to make my daughter and future daughter-in-law these for Christmas. I’ve never used cotton yarn but I bought up many colors because I am also planning on making hand towels. This yarn is giving my poor hands fits but I am going to try to get these made by Christmas.
@BonnieBayCrochet

What a saint you are Becky! Yes, cotton does have more resistance for the hands. I feel that a lot too when I crochet. Maybe you can treat yourself with some fancy (alpaca? wool?) when you are done. I think your hands will be able to breeze through a relaxing project with nicer yarn.

Hard to say what went wrong without a photo, but these kind of new techniques always have a learning curve. You may have skipped a stitch here or there. The beginning and ending of rows is where most problems occur. Have a wonderful Christmas!

So the beginning chain has 25 stitches! When I did the sc then the dc, I ended up with 24 stitches. I ripped out once, tried again and still ended up with 24 stitches on the second row. What am I doing wrong?
@gloreese
@gloreese 4 жыл бұрын
Lorraine Dooner you’re not doing anything wrong, the pattern is in multiples of two. The extra chain is so that you can turn your work and begin working the first row. The turning chain/s is so that you are in position to work the next row.

If you make 2 and crochet them together (for double thickness) it will work!😊❤️

That sounds really neat to be able to slow you down or speed you up, but I don’t see the little gear on my ipad. Is there a way to do that on an ipad?

Please tell me what these 2 stitches are called. If you do it in 2 colours it becomes the Houndstooth but I can't find it anywhere when you do it in 1 colour. Thanks

Hi Bonnie, because your initial chain is 25, is the multiple an even number plus 1? Thanks in advance! Such a beautiful pattern and great instructions!
