The simplicity of that jig to stop the wood moving is fantastic, using the twisting motion to clamp, cool.

Thank you so much for this! so many others just show you the wood already cut. I've never felt confident enough of the dimensions, to tackle this. But you guys,...you not only showed the cutting of the 2x4's ( so i now know where these #'s come from...) but you even showed us how to cut them without a table saw!!!! love you guys for this, keep up the good work! Thankyou!!!

How many 2x4's do I need for this? Great job on the jig. I have a table saw but that's an awesome idea to use in a pinch.

4 should do it. You need about 520" total and 8x 2"x2" at 96" that's 768" of material so even if you don't maximize length perfectly there should be plenty. ID Piece Length Count A Seat 15″ 6 B Back Legs 35″ 2 C Back Long 31.5″ 4 D Back Short 29.75″ 2 E Front legs 42″ 2 F Joints 9-1/8″ 9

What's the benefit of using cables instead of something like threaded rods?

I could not tell in the video, but how did you get a straight rip of the two by four without a fence? Did you have a laser on your circular saw and you just followed a line that you marked down the length of the two-by-four?

They used the rip fence that comes with the saw which prevents the need to follow a line, it can be seen running on the front edge of the timber.

If you rip a 2 by 4, which is actually 1.5 x 3.5, you end up with 2 pieces that are 1.5 x 1.75 not 1.25. Well maybe a little less than 1.75 When taking kerf into account.
