Come along with Bonnie and learn how to crochet the EASY Chevron Granny Square Throw! This is a beginner friendly design that will be a great addition to your skill set as well as any room in your home.
You can make this design wider by adding multiples of 36 to the original starting chain.
This throw is approximately 52" wide x 56" long (including optional edging).
The written patten is available in my LoveCrafts store here: www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/ca...,
and in my ETSY store here: www.etsy.com/listing/12471141...
This is made using a #5 weight yarn available here: www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/pa.... Feel free to substitute a worsted/Aran weight yarn if you prefer. This also can be an excellent stash buster project.

I love chevron anything! I just inherited a queen size single crochet blo chevron scrapghan that my great grandmother made in the 70s. She passed just before I was born so it's pretty special to me for that reason, plus the fact that it was in my parents house my whole life. So many memories! You can very well tell it's 70s because there's a lot of browns, yellows, greens, and oranges. It was made with super saver and is in great condition.

So sweet! The first afghan I started was a ripple afghan in 1970. It was a beautiful mix of about 9 shades of fall colors. That was when I learned to ALWAYS make note of the hook size for each project! During my cross country move, I lost the hook I was using! I picked up a hook I thought was close enough! You know how that went! Been thinking about making another one after all these years. Thank you Bonnie for your inspiration and for the walk down memory lane! You are an awesome teacher.

Hello Bonnie, 😊 Thank you for this tutorial. I have a question please. So I added 35 to my chain f 178 = 213 for 6 chevrons. I wanted my throw a little bit longer. I wanted to adjust for my Worsted Weight. I thought mine would not be as wide as your chunky weight yarn. Or my Chevrons would shrink my original chain a little. I have 212 stitches. But I realize, My R 1 SC row is a even number. While yours is odd. 177 Will this matter. Does odd I’m Ready even number matter with this chain I don’t want to have to frog it. Thank you so so very much. 🙏🏽💕💐😊

If you are off by a chain or two, you should be ok. Just may need to skip an extra stitch here or there on the foundation row. No one will ever notice. I promise!

My row 2 (after the SC row) ends after a valley; i still have the correct cluster count, but when coming back to do the next row, i have space for four clusters before the valley. My other side ends after a peak and has the space for the five clusters. My row 4 will not end correctly if i continue. I did the 178 starting chain as the video suggests. I have followed the instructions exactly.

I accidentally ended up with an extra cluster at the end of the row, would it make a huge difference? This is my first Chevron.

I’m very excited to crochet the beginner chevron blanket. I would like to know how to print out the directions. Or can I buy a book with your beginner patterns?
@BonnieBayCrochet

That really all depends upon your computer/printer system Stella. The written pattern is available here: www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/easy-chevron-granny-square-throw-crochet-pattern-by-bonnie-barker

If it looks significantly different from the sample in the video, you many need to back it up and recount.

Bonnie I added an extra 35 chains. I was not sure how to do Row 2 since I added the extra chains. I did row 2 repeat I think 4 times and then the last sentence of Row 2. It did not come out right. Sure hope you can help. Thanks so much. Mary H

I believe the multiple to be added to the original starting chain is 36. Sorry for any confusion.

Bonnie, if I use #4 yarn - how many stitches would I need for a Lapghan?
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 5 ай бұрын
That's hard to say due to many variables. I think a #4 yarn should be pretty close to what I used in this video. The design will be only slightly smaller.
