My dad taught me to use peel and stick tile on the inside of my cabinets, the tile cleans up easy and can be taken up with a hairdryer and a putty knife if you want to change or replace. Love how you did not over talk the subject and got right to work.

Contact paper works well for lining shelves as well and can be cut to fit, without the seams between tiles which can "leak." It's not as easy to find in stores as it was a few decades ago, however, in my experience.

Lol. Good job indeed. (Understated) This humble woman was doing FAR far more complicated woodworking long before youtube even existed. She can build, literally, anything. She is the reason I've done my own buildouts, fireplace surrounds, furniture etc. I would've never tackled and designed and built these things without her example over the years. You don't know me Anna - but i have known your work for years. So Thx. A 1000 times over.

I asked my handy husband to do this when we moved into our house 18 years ago, BEST improvement EVER! He did all the kitchen base cabinets and all the bathroom base cabinets. Now that I'm 71 it is a God send not to have to crawl on the floor to clean and/or find something at the back of any of my cabinets.

There is something else you might love. Age makes it painful for me to do a deep knee bend. I bought a few plastic rolling garden carts. Picture a small heavy duty plastic tote on wheels. I can sit very comfortably on the cart to weed my garden, put air in my tires, or scrub my floors. Also it is easier to stand up from a sitting position than it is getting up from the floor.

Ana is the Goldilocks of DIY coaches. Some instructors speak to viewers as if we're seasoned pros, others as if we're morons. She always gets it just right, showing just the right amount of detail, explaining exactly what's needed to keep it clear & simple but no more than that so that it's memorable & we can walk away knowing how to do it with confidence. I'm thinking if Ana ever goes bonkers one day & decides to take up teaching organic chemistry to her subscribers, we'd probably all be able to ace the MCAT & get into med school, no probs! 😉

Thank you again for another brilliant but simple and innovative project, using the existing material is a great idea to avoid waste. I love your channel and website, especially as you encourage people to post their finished versions of your projects, it really inspires and encourages us to try. The free plans and reasonable projects costs really help us do more within our budget and you always take the time to walk us through your process and give us tips, tricks and potential pitfalls which I really appreciate. My wife and I have now built multiple projects from your site including 3 computer desks (for son, mom and dad), wood storage cart, multiple kitchen cabinets and 2 amazing bookshelves (which my daughter is still trying to appropriate for her room). Based on other projects on your website we have also built a recycling cart, 6' rolling storage shelves and a kitchen/pantry stand. All of the projects get compliments and when people ask where we bought them from, we love the reaction when we say we built them. I saw the modern dresser you made with a brad nailer and I think that might be the next one to try. Please keep the amazing content coming and thank you for all that you do.

Just seeing this two years after its been posted. Nice clear video that's to-the-point without a lot of extra babbling. The only suggestion I have is to install the slides in the base cabinet first, put in the shelf slides next, and then measure the distance across for the shelf width. Worked much better when I did this to my bathroom vanity's shelves. And in 2022 the price of those slides in 16" length is up to $9 at HD (inflation . . . grrrr!!). EDIT: Also forgot to add that I put a 6.5" drawer pull handle on the top-front of shelves I installed - makes it easier to slide it in-and-out, and keeps stuff from falling forward and off onto the floor.

I'd rather put my money in a place that's really mine.

@@dragon6irl I won't suggest ever doing something your against. I just would become part of the HOA Board members and steer my condo in a sensible direction, but that is just me. I love living in a condo. Single family detached dwelling units have become cost prohibitive for many and condos can be found reasonably priced sometimes a steal. I bought my first one at 29. Yes, friends made fun of me and my ugly condo but I slowly fixed it up. In the implosion of 2008 I had a comfortable roof over my head and those friends that laughed, many did not. Thank you, Ana! This is such a clear, concise video. I feel much more confident now to start building and installing my first drawers for a beautiful pantry I recently salvaged and restored. I appreciate your videos so much!

This helped me take apart the broken pull drawer i have and fix the problem. The rails had nails in them not screws. No wonder it became loose and then would stick.

Perfect timing. I'm just finishing up your Too Faced pantry and was wanting to add pullouts to my kitchen cabinets but wasn't sure how. Thanks for all your wonderful doable projects.

I did this, but I turned the slides on their sides so they were laying flat. They work just as well and still soft close perfectly. Doubled the storage in my only large kitchen cabinet.

And to think I was going to spend 120.00 bucks on a drawer system. Your video was awesome and easy to understand. I will be doing this in a cabinet on the bottom and in the middle of the cabinet. Thank you for your expertise. Robb

I LOVE IT!!!! Honey, if you were here I'd just KISS YOU! I love cabinets with drawers so I don't have to bend over to find things! Being thrifty is at the top of my list too since I live on a tight budget. This is definitely going into my next home.

@Ana White. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I HAVE AM UNFINISHED PROJECT AWAITING ME FOR 6 YEARS (DUE TO A DENTAL CRANIUM FRACTURE AND NERVE INJURY) THAT REQUIRES THE SHIMS. IT WILL NEED 2"X4" BUT SAME TECHNIQUE. I HOPE TO finish this now with a pull out boxes that we already had made. I was about to give up and Order pegs online and just put plywood shelving in there. Since it is 2 foot deep cabinet that was made for an inset oven and I am using it for food storage, it will really help to have the rollouts to be able to rotate stock properly and reach to the back. This video was such a blessing for me thank you. It has a large face frame

I would recommend furring out the entire length of the slide for face-framed cabinets. We have some pull-outs that were here when we bought the place. Over time, the slides have bent where they aren’t supported by the shims, and now I need to beat up my knees and back to replace them. The former owners might have used too light-duty of slides, but a few more materials might mean fewer headaches down the road.

Anna, I love your videos. I wish you could put in below the video links to the materials you use for your projects. I do a lot of Amazon so maybe links to that or to Lowe's, Home Depot, ACE or other big box type stores would be helpful as well. Thanks for all the great tips, tricks and plans for your projects.

DLawless has quiet close slides. (Let’s their employees use the restroom when needed). (Pays tax).

She did not bother to do this because they sell this anyplace. I like how she reused her old shelf. Just go to the shelving/organization section and there will be more selection than you need.
