It's a cold and wet June here in the UK, a good time to start crocheting winter warmers, ready to donate later in the year.
Thank you to Paintsomeway.com for sending me this lovely yarn to try out.

Thank you Rebecca, ah but you have other critturs there that we don't have, like possums and racoons, they fascinate me, and I think like our hedgehogs and foxes, they've started to become urbanised out of necessity haven't they? Hedgehogs are struggling here, prone to dehydration, ticks etc and due to loss of their natural habitat, and luckily there are a lot of rescue centres which can help if you find an ill or injured hedgehog. Our visitors have gone quiet now, but the food and water we're putting out are disappearing, so we're hoping they're doing their foraging at night, which is how they should be, and that they'll now be ok and all fattened up ready for hibernation in the autumn. It was very special to see them in the garden, but of course a worry as they shouldn't really be out in the day. Anyway, thanks for watching and I'm glad you liked the crochet, I'll be doing a glove tutorial soon :)

Another vote for a tutorial on how you made those fingerless gloves, please!! I am always cold in my old house during MInnesota winters, so I need those fingerless gloves to be able to comfortably craft! I am definitely a seasoned crocheter but I don't have the confidence you do to just make up a pattern as I go. I wish I did! I really enjoy the patterns you choose for crocheting, they're always enjoyable. And I appreciate you introducing me to new crochet channels, too!

Hi Annie. Very interesting watching you crochet. Everyone has a different way of holding a hook and picking up the yarn. I do it in one smooth movement, not throwing. Thank you for showing the foundation stitch. I cannot get it no matter how many times I watch because once I get about three rows up, I lose the stitch I’m supposed to pick up! It all becomes a blur to me. 🙄. I’ll continue to practice. I really like that pattern with the V shape. Adorable set! Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.

Thanks Martha - yes I think the way I hold the hook is a bit cack-handed tbh, I've tried different ways, but always come back to the way I've been doing it since I was a little girl. It took me a while to "get" the foundation stitch, but honestly now the penny's dropped I nearly always use it. When I do the gloves tutorial, I'll try to show it more clearly and include how I know which stitch to go into. Thanks for watching :)

@@artyfartyannie thanks Annie. I hope you don’t think I was criticizing the way you hold your hook. Just like knitting or anything else, everyone has their comfortable way of doing things! You’re so creative in so many ways, with so much talent! I’ve made fingerless gloves knitted, but I don’t think I’ve done any crocheted. (I’m a terrible knitter, crochet is way easier to me). ❤️

I definitely need more headbands in my life, and I like that they're so quick to do. It's nice to be able to get interesting yarn at a good price, especially if you're going to be donating. I have a whole huge binful of yarn to use up though, so will be knocking out some more of these as well as some blankets, ready to donate in the autumn, nice to have a purpose for them :)

Thanks so much Anita, I know you're one of my loyal long-time viewers and I really appreciate that you don't mind my somewhat eclectic mix of videos and always leave kind comments, even when it's something that's not really your thing. My content definitely changes and evolves to reflect what I'm interested in and my current mood, as well as what I hope people wil enjoy watching. Since I stopped the Scrawlr sub, I haven't done any art vids at all and I must admit I've lost confidence, also I've just got SO many things I want to make and do, there isn't time for everything. I do have a couple of ideas in the pipeline though, so keep on watching this space :) xo
