Day’s Crochet - Modern Crochet Patterns

Day’s Crochet - Modern Crochet Patterns

2 жыл бұрын

I designed this towel topper specifically for towels with cute designs on the front. I also wanted to create one that was a bit more polished in appearance, using single crochet instead of the usual double crochet stitches. They were also a big hit at my recent vendor market, too!
You can find the written version of this pattern on my blog at daysck.com.
For an ad-free printable pdf of this pattern, you can find it in both my Etsy and Ravelry shops for relatively little cost: linktr.ee/dayscrochetnc
Please note that you do not have my permission to sell, illegally share, translate, copy, or duplicate this pattern or my photos in any way. Please do not use this pattern for a video, blog, or class tutorial. Thank you so much for following these simple rules! Please message me on Facebook or send me an email at dayscrochetnc@gmail.com with any questions.
Supplies Needed:
-Approx. 55-65 yards of any size 4 worsted weight yarn
-Size J 6.0 mm hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
-1 kitchen towel, size 14" x 24" (35.5 x 70 cm)
-1 button, size 1" (25 mm)
-Tapestry needle (may need to be on the sharper side if your towel is thicker)
-Seam gauge or regular ruler (or the best is a quilting ruler that will help with the measuring and the folding parts: amzn.to/3jc2jiS )
-Pen or marker for marking on towel
-Iron and ironing board
-Scissors, measuring tape, stick pins
Gauge:
16 sc and 16 rows = 4" (10 cm)
Finished Measurements:
Crocheted portion measures approx. 5" x 7.5" (13 x 19 cm)

Nice emboirdery pattern. btw, Is it a must to fold the towel in one thirds lengthwise? i am planning on workingon a plain towel
@DaysCrochet
@DaysCrochet Жыл бұрын
It’s not a big deal on how many times you fold it; it matters more on the width of the top and how many embroidery chain stitches you start with. If you still have close to my stitch count/measurements, you should be able to follow my pattern. I make more plain towels than decorative ones and I still fold mine in thirds. Hope this helps!

@DaysCrochet
@DaysCrochet Жыл бұрын
Any material should work, I believe. The most important thing is getting your center fold to be the correct width so you can start off with the same number of stitches to be able to follow the pattern. Good luck!

I love this tutorial and pattern, I have made 3 already! My problem is that even with measuring and folding the towels so that the ends are even with each other after I make the embroidery stitches, the ends do not line up. One side is always longer than the other. I have adjusted twice and still have the same issue. Any tips/advice to avoid this?
@DaysCrochet
@DaysCrochet 7 ай бұрын
Sometimes this happens to me as well. What I do in these instances is make sure I have the longer side on the front when I go to do the sc around the whole piece. Does that make sense?

Do you put the ruler on top of center line or to the left of it. I can’t really tell
@DaysCrochet
@DaysCrochet 2 жыл бұрын
You want to make your marks as much in the center as possible. In order to do that, you have to move your ruler slightly to the left so you can get the marks in the center. I hope that makes sense.

When you go through the towel and make your embroidery stitches are you going through all thicknesses of the towel as it is folded in 3rds or are you going through the top of the towel only. Can an invisible decrease be done instead of the 2sc2?
@DaysCrochet
@DaysCrochet 10 ай бұрын
Invisible decreases are really only "invisible" if you are either working in the round, or you are only decreasing on the "right side" when working in the row. Since my pattern has you decreasing in multiple rows, the backs of some of your decreases will be showing on the front of your work, making it not-so-invisible. But if you want to, it shouldn't really make a huge difference.

I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out how your doing those embroidery stitches, it's just not working for me. Is there another stitch I can use instead?
@DaysCrochet
@DaysCrochet Жыл бұрын
You could try crocheting a chain stitch through the layers instead but it may be more of a challenge. You would probably need a steel hook with a sharper nose to get it through the towel. Or you could use a rotary skip blade to pre-cut the holes for you to crochet through, and then just use a regular hook. You will definitely want to pin your towel in place prior to doing the rotary skip blade though because you will struggle seeing the holes and the holes will probably be difficult to keep lined up. I hope this helps!
