Made mine (well mostly)! I didn’t have caulk, so I used gorilla glue, fingers crossed it holds up! It also started raining here and hasn’t stopped for 3 days (we needed it desperately though) so as soon as it stops I’m headed out to paint mine!! I used the terracotta as you did, except for the top, I couldn’t find a 17 inch saucer at lowes but they had a translucent thick plastic one that I’m going to glue gems to, and I think it’ll be lovely!! Thanks so much for the inspiration!! 😆

@mybloomsource5017
@mybloomsource5017 3 жыл бұрын
One way to prevent a plastic birdbath from tipping over in the wind would be to bury the base in the ground. Another suggestion is to purchase a square patio brick (needs to be larger than your base) and glue the base to this patio brick. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Well, there's always someone who'll show up to ask a couple of unpleasant questions and make recommendations. Guess it'll have to be me. First, since your "tower" is empty, how will it hold up in a stiff breeze or a storm, like, say, with wind gusts about 30 to 40 mph or more? Wouldn't it topple and crack the terra cotta? How about winter? Would you leave it up? I had a couple of terra cotta pots that were stored empty and they cracked with the changing temperatures in an unheated shed. The terra cotta "peeled" and left splinters. Maybe you could add some stability by filling the base with sand, plugging the drainage hole, of course. It might keep it standing much longer than empty. In fact, you may have to fill that second level a bit to be sure. I've lost a number of bird baths to the wind. and a couple to winter conditions. Actually, my plastic ones lasted much longer. Plastic, however, does weaken the longer it's exposed to the sun. These are just a couple of thoughts based on past experience. I hope you have much better luck with yours. Great video, though. Really enjoyed it. Maybe I'll try one to leave on my little patio under the roof to keep it protected.

@mybloomsource5017
@mybloomsource5017 3 жыл бұрын
You dont have to seal the upper tray but if it is made of terra cotta we recommend it because it will absorb some of the water and if not sealed you will need to refill it more often. That is one of the benefits with using a plastic top section.
