EASY DIY Washi Tape is so much fun to make! I bet you already have everything you need to make your own right now! This DIY is based on MomOfEve Christmas gift to me and it was very much requested for me to do a tutorial! Hope you like it and give it a try.

There are also thin sheets of double sided adhesive you can use to make whole sticker sheets and just cut what you need.

I like the vellum idea...I've stamped on tissue backed with freezer paper & inkjet printed too...the red tape is a heavy duty tape for heavier media...TFS

I watched a bazillion washi tapes DIY on KZfaq and I can categorically say that yours is BY FAR the best one around! It delivers great results and it is the closest to the store bought washi tapes. As a matter of fact I don't see much difference, to be perfectly honest. I found the channel by searching for DIY washi tapes and I'm already a fan of your work. The best part about your Mom's washi tape is that it won't peel off after a while like regular washi tape does. (When I use the regular stuff, I usually have to glue it down.) The Scor tape is going to keep your Mom's tape down beautifully! Thanks for sharing her great idea!!!

Great method of doing this.....I did a hunt for videos on this recently and I wasn’t liking how others were doing this....most of them used tape and paper and soaked the paper backing off with water. Seemed tedious to me. I like your take on it and plan to try this. Thanks so much for sharing.

So cool & easy. Yes I do know some tape has a life span, I won like 20 rolls of Washi Tape about 3 years ago& went to use some a couple of weeks ago & it wouldn't stick at all. I know masking & blue painters tape looses it's stick also. Please tell our mom, I said thank you for giving you permission to show us how she made her Washi Tape. Hugs!

I used Clear Label sheets. The only problem is you can't tear them. I have a ton of them so I might use them up first. I think I will only do half sheets when I do them so I don't waste all the tape. I probably wouldn't use a whole sheet of washi tape for anything.

I was thinking about clear labels also. What about using the little perforating tool so that they would tear easily? I believe I saw one at Michaels the other day for about $8 or so.

That's what i was wondering. I have a wheel thingie from sewing that perforates.... I'm thinking it might work. I did make a few half pages today. I don't have the cool stamps from the zella teal but I think they were pretty cute. I still want to try the sticker paper though... maybe later this week

I scanned some of the chipboard pieces and a few sheets of the paper then inserted them onto the colored paper while on my screen. That way I was able to move things around where I wanted them. I used Publisher to do mine but Word or Photoshop will do the same thing. The vellum will give the tape a softer look than the sticker paper. All depends on what you are going for. I had a perforating blade that goes on one of my other cutters so I was using that. I'm not much for having the ragged edge (just me).

Love the vellum idea! Just a side note on that red tape Jen, it's a bit thicker and super strong compared to the tear tape (paper backed). I use it when i need something to stay really well. Like when i make the covers or tape down my hinges :) I usually buy mine at Joann's, Hobby Lobby & Michael's.

Love your albums and selection of paper did you happen to get the box I finished the pictures that is and the album. My first attempt at using your template. I think the more I use them the better I will get at it. My next attempt will be the Christmas ornament. What a great idea to hang on the tree. I have 14 to do so I better get started on them . I had a question the ultimate dyi bundle and the dyi regular have all the sizes in them except the other templates do not have all the various designs right . Also did you do a large box that you can put the album in is there additional things that you put into the dyi ultimate bundle

I am not sure I am following...you take two sided tape...different widths and tape the strips to a sheet of paper...then you take off the cover of the tape and stamp with designs...that becomes your own personal decorated washi tape...is that correct? What brand of tape strips did you use please?

Caroline Ross washi tape is a low tack decorated tape. It is only sticky on one side. It tears super easy and just adds a bit of extra to your designs.

Happy I could help. I should have mentioned that Jen is using double-sided tape to make a faux washi tape. I've seen a lot of different DIY's on making washi tape but this one by far is the closest to real washi and the prettiest too!
