You can deboss and emboss 2 pages at the same time by inking both sides of your embossing folder. I have the older red model machine and save time cranking!😂

Thank you so much for this video, Pam! I have an old hand crank embosser too that I gave up on because it tried to kill me repeatedly by shooting out the heavy plates at high speed across the room hitting a window at one point. I've now, bravely, retrieved that killing machine and tried it with your book page idea with great success! Woo hoo! And thank you to the person in comments that said you can do two pages at once - that was a great time saver too! Thanks so much to all of you - including the gal who sent you the idea!!

Omgosh thank you so much for this video!! I bought the same one at an estate sale complete w directions and I cannot get the darn thing to work I'm ready to just throw it out such is my frustration lol!! Oh my gosh I could so relate to the Sizzix machine. That happens to me all the time. Especially when you said " Retreat". LOL And I never know what side is which so I've now put a piece of tape on the embossed side. Love your crafting play. Like I said I can so relate. Glad to know I'm not the only one who has struggled. ;-)

This is what I struggle with is finding the right thickness. I actually broke the gears in my brand new machine. So I had to get another one. The paper idea is great to gradually adjust the thickness. Also, I was wondering, you know the cracking sound when you wind it through…. Is that your plastic plates breaking???? I was just wondering…. I love your description for positive and negative embossing. I’m not sure which one I like more…. Anyway, thanks for your show this morning, this is exactly what I have been curious about the last couple days!! How did you know this is what I needed???❤❤❤❤❤❤. I appreciated your instructions!!!!🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

Pam the hard clear plastic things that go on top of your die you actually sandwich those together. Put one on the bottom then put your folder of die on the middle then another on the top. You will also need those shim boards too. I love my sizzle and use it all the time.

Pam, "Embossing" is adding height and "Debossing" is taking height away. So deboss is like depress and emboss is like embroider (raised).

What you could do is ink the folder so the debossed bits are one colour then lightly rub the ink over the paper so the embossed bits get a different colour. Would give a good… juxtaposition… I know you love that word 😉

I think that the words you are looking for are "convex" and "concave". 'Convex' means 'to curve outwards' and 'concave' means 'to curve inwards'

Hi, Sizzix is a great brand but I found an adjustable one that has different settings for cutting and embossing so you don’t have to add or remove❤ extra plates to get the right setting. The brand is Bira. There is a starter pack that comes with a magnetic base plate with is great for holding the metal dies in place. Something to look at during your research on what will work best for you.

I haven't done much embossing. I just did plain paper. So I will try this with colour. Have you used embossing powders? I have a complete kit of powders unused.

I have the original red Sizix machine...the one with the lever. it still works, so i cant get rid of it. I had to look up the opposite of embossed; it's debossed..

Good tips - i would say, from my experience, that you need much less resistance for embossing than for die cutting - I once got over-enthusiastic with my old (second-hand) machine- there was a big bang - when i took it apart to look - several teeth had broken off one of the cogs inside - and no more Big Shot...😢
