As a beginner sewer in my 60’s, I do love following your tutorials. 😊 You go slow enough for me to get each step correct, pause, and then the next step. 💗 Now I have the delight in knowing you understand what it is like to live in a small Southern California desert town that doesn’t have a fancy fabric/quilt shop nearby (Tehachapi calling)😉. I feel I have a wonderful neighbor friend that can get me through things I get stuck on! Have a wonderful trip to Yellowstone! You will be so glad you were able to check it off the bucket list! 👍🏼 Just don’t get out of the vehicle to pet the bison! 😉

I always marvel at the choices of fabrics that we have available to us. If you were to buy napkins or placemats at the store, you are really at the mercy of the manufacturers. If you make them yourself, you have more of a variety that you will ever be able to deplete. I love your voice and your patience! Thank you for your tutorials.

I know this is an old video but I just stumbled across your channel. You are a fantastic teacher!! Absolutely one of the best professors at KZfaq University😁 I really appreciate how you explain every step. I am learning to sew and many of the tutorials I have found go too fast for me to keep up and they tend to skip over the basic steps, I guess assuming everyone knows how to do them already. As a complete beginner, I don't know the basic steps until I learn them. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and having the patience for those of us that are truly starting from scratch. 💓

I love napkins as a beginning, but also skills drill, exercise. I usually use 1/4" wide hems but if I want to internalize (be able to see, use that seam allowance width, turn and fold withiut measuring) a different width then I either make a set of napkins or a hard cotton tea towel with hems of that width; in these cases, I measure everything. Most of the time, I use them as an edge stitch drill. And then as a top stitch drill to purposefully and accurately put in lines of stitching exactly where I want them. Top stitching from the top over the hem width is a great place to use some of the decorative stitches. I often cut a set of napkins from a set of 300 or 600 count (used) sheet before cutting something bigger if its been a while to hone down those measuring, marking, and cutting skills before using an expensive decor fabric. And, they are great for a mitered corner refresher if you choose to go that way.

I'm new to your channel and hopefully I can learn a lot from u on sewing I'm new to it and last night I got to thread it up that wasn't too bad but I'm hoping to get good at this new hobby I also crochet and diamond painting I also have other craft too it keeps me busy. I also live in the middle of nowhere. My closest Wal-Mart is 40 miles by highway and 25 if I take the back roads. 60 and more to any other craft stores. Love the projects.

I wish I could figure out how to share my purse. I love this quick method. I used a beautiful canvas print, so I didn't need interfacing. For the straps I used webbing strap. Easy peasy!

Cute bag! I make bags. too. I make a bag very similar to the one you demonstrated here. I usually make a matching wallet or coin purse to go with it. They are fun to make aren't they!
