Here I am... Starting over with your lessons. I discovered you 2 or 3 years ago. I was doing your lessons each time that you put one out. And then I had to stop. My youngest son had an adverse life-threatening reaction to the Pfizer vaccine for covid. It has taken him almost 3 years to recover. During that time my mom had a stroke that the Lord saved her from and she was still able to walk and talk. A year later she fell and got a compound fracture in her leg above her ankle. She had surgery and then learned to walk on that leg again. Within almost another year she fell again and ended up in the hospital. She left the hospital and went to rehab. We brought her home while realizing something had changed because she had been walking and then the last couple of days before she left the rehab she was saying that it was hard for her to walk. She was only home for 4 days and then had to go back to the hospital and within another 4 days she had gone home to be with Father in Heaven. I still have to take care of my father, my husband's mother, and his special needs sister who all Count On Me.... as well as my own family. My point.... I lost myself a bit. I've gained weight... In sadness exhaustion and misery. At this point in my life... I am trying to find myself again. And returning to things that fulfilled me in the past. I told you that my son had a friend who was Filipina..... And happily at this point ... She is his LOVE 😍. And... I do think it would be beneficial even more to learn her native language... even though at this point she is completely fluent in English. She is amazing! Beautiful and intelligent! Thank you for these lessons. They may not make you famous with a million views each.... But are so precious to those of us who luckily found your channel. Your voice is amazing.. Your husband's art is a gift... Your children are precious. Thank you❤Be blessed in Jesus 🙏Name❤

I am happy that you passed all those trials in life. You are so strong, you survived all those. I am a survivor too, my 4 sisters and I barely had any food to eat. We sleep early and wake up late during weekends so that we can skip meals. We almost became homeless since we could barely rent a small room. I thought I would never finish school since my mom expected all 5 of us to become house helpers. My siblings and I did everything we could so we could finish school. Good thing we have state universities in the Philippines, so all of us finished school. I think we should just have faith in God and in ourselves to overcome the tests. Cheers to us, fellow survivor! 😇

Just a correction: Filipinos from different regions of the Philippines speak specific languages and dialects not just dialects. Dialects are variations of a language. For example, Tagalog-Manila, Tagalog-Laguna, Tagalog-Batangas are dialects of the Tagalog.

@AJ W I can't comment on the academic learning of Tagalog, but my approach to teaching Conversational English in China was the Experiential approach, e.g. having students in pairs or small groups and setting real life conversational tasks, such as on a train journey, shopping, introductory meeting, and so on. I imagine that at your daughter's age, she'll have many opportunities to make friends easily. A key to learning any language is to throw yourself in with locals, listening, observing, questioning and attempting to speak their language. The beauty of the Philippines is, of course, nearly everybody speaks some English which helps them to engage in conversation. I go out regularly with my Filipino partner and ask questions about what's written on posters, promos, etc. And asking her to translate a conversation she's had with a Filipino. Does your daughter know any Spanish? If so, she may recognise some Tagalog words, which can be a conversation starter. Hope this helps. All the best for a happy experience in the Philippines to you and your family.

HOLA maestra Debra. You are an excellent Tagalog teacher. Spanish is my native language and you just made me realize that even though I have a good handle of the English language, I'd cut my Tagalog learning time 50% by just learning from a Tagalog teacher who teaches it in Spanish. The "Juan" and similar examples made me realize that. There is too much pork fat that have to be taught to the English speaker who is learning Tagalog. My opinion. Thanks profesora.

@@paulbrooks9546 Yes! The reason why the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (Commission of the Filipino Language) suggested to use "F" for the country, people, and language so that it would be "terno" or unified and especially inclusive; because in our modern Filipino alphabet, we included other letters from the English alphabet, such as F, which is also meant to include how our other indigenous group use the letter "F" in their dialects too.
