Hi everyone, well this is the third time I have uploaded this video after so many on and off problems playing the video! I hope this has finally cured the problem. So again I apologise to everyone for the previous problems but they were beyond my control. Bill

Whip fishing was never something that appealed to me but after watching your tutorials and the whips in action I decided to test the water so to speak and I bought a cheap telescopic 4m whip with a couple of Drennan pole rigs, fitted a Stonfo connector....couple of sessions later and I have to say I really enjoyed the simplicity of this method. Seat box, landing net, whip, pole rig, disgorger and a bag of bread brought about a good day on the bank. What impressed me the most was the delicate nature you can present your bait over and over again. Thanks for posting.

Rokh &Roll Hi I’m glad you have tried the whip as it is an excellent method. If you want to step up and get into whips I would recommend trying a carbon version with a fine flick tip, the Leeds versions in the video are a good buy. If you are lucky enough to have the funds go for a tele/take apart model as they are so versatile and I intend to do a video on using them. Bill

@@easyfishing1936 Hi Bill thanks for the reply, I was thinking those short poles (middy seem to do a nice range on this type) intended for carp would be good for a bit of stalking due to the way you could drop in the bait without spooking them. On another tangent I wonder if you could use the short poles for a bit of pike fishing ? would the elastic make it difficult to set the hook ? just thinking out loud.

Rokh &Roll Hi I did try them but in those days we didn’t have the equipment to make it work. Bill

Thanks Bill Very good advice, I am new to whips but this sounds just right to get my 4 year old granddaughter started (she is already keen to join my grandson and me). We can fish on a private lake with both silvers and larger bream and carp, or the Thames locally with slivers and perch. Best wishes, keep well. Graham

Graham Clifton Hi well you will find them perfect for kids to use on places like the aThames and on a water with bigger fish take a glass whip, make the rig from 5 lb line with a 4 lb hook length and a strong hook and hang on. The whip will take on a huge bend but will get carp etc to about 5 lbs out but make sure the line connection is strong. If you hook a double figure fish well you would be lucky to get it out, but I have seen it done. I have done a video catching small carp on a glass whip and it was fun with a capital F. Bill

Trojs Fishing Hi have you seen the films of the commercial boats using them for catching Tuna? Unbelievable how they just literally catapault them out of the water and straight onto the deck. Seeing is believing and I’m not sure what type of tuna they were, but they were not small. Bill

Hi bill just bought the senses alberella pro whip 5 mtr it’s lovely light and slim. I’m thinking about elasticating it. So how long wud the line be as I’m thinking if I use the length just short of whip as you normally would to swing fish in, if catching better size fish elastic stretches even further meaning it will be too hard to land. If using shorter line and get a good fish that’s pulling elastic out but not far enough then how do you land it as it’s not take apart whip. So imagine using 4 sections and all telescopic and fishing say 5 feet of line. Which might have about a foot from float to tip. I can’t take sections off cos it’s telescopic and if I push sections in to make whip shorter for easier landing then it could damage the whip. Hope you can understand what I mean.

Barry Boyd Hi sorry for the late reply! Well now you have found out why I don’t recommend elasticating telescopic whips! It just does not work! The only whips I would put elastic in are the tele/take apart models as you can break them down to the correct length to net fish. My advice would be just use the whip with the flick tip and it’s a quality model so just enjoy using it. Bill

With whips do you use elastic. I’m new so I’m a bit confused . My one came with a metal circle at the end
@superbalaur12973 жыл бұрын
Short answer no, but the modern, more expensive ones, like shown here at the end of the video by Bill, are actually short lightweight poles that can be used as a whip with a solid carbon tip and as a short pole with an elastic.
