Easy Fix for Mercedes GLK-250 steering wheel tilt issue

Showing a fix for a malfunctioning tilt on our Mercedes.
This video specifically looks at the repair and reassembly of the tilt, OBD2 port and hood release handle on an X205 Mercedes GLK-250.
This repair can likely be applied to many other Mercedes cars with similar style tilt mechanism.

Exactly what did and it worked. Did have to use the pliers also to loosen it. Used lithium grease.

This helped me out a lot thanks a lot mine made a click sound and loosen up that screw he says and tadaa fixed again thanks alot

You’re welcome! It was difficult to get good camera angles while making this video. Glad it helped (even though the camera was wiggling around half of the time).

Worked for me BUT I did not take the data port clip out instead I slide mine sideways, saves 2 screws.. maybe different on a 2014 C300? Either way, thanks so much; dealer wanted 350!

I thought the screw holding the hood release was a torx 20 but is a Phillips #2 (I couldn't see it) thanks for the video!

You don't need to disassemble it. If you do not use it for a long time, it gets stuck. If you forcibly lift the handle with your knee and move the tilt upward, the stuck thing will come off and it will work normally. hahahahaha

I actually did try to lift the steering wheel with my knees and operate the tilt switch, but it wouldn’t break free for me.

Eventually you have to go in there and lube it to get it loose.
