Garage door openers are great to have when they are working properly. There are multiple reasons they can stop working. The easiest and first step I suggest is trying to sync your remote again. My my garage door opener stopped working. I was prepared to disassemble the unit to repair it, as it turned out the problem was the LED bulb. Changing the bulb save me a lot of work and frustration. Thank you😊

When my garage remote stopped working, I called the company and they wanted to charge me $189.00 to send a technician to bring me a new remote and program it for me. Found your site and this wonderful video. My setup is exactly like yours, so I followed your instructions and voila, it worked perfectly! But Bob, why wouldn’t you just call the ‘guy!’ Just kidding! I had the start capacitor go out on mine and found a replacement for $8 bucks. Relatively easy install, but you do have to discharge the old one before removal. I put the info on Nextdoor and I was berated for doing something so dangerous and I should have just called ‘The Guy.’

Brilliant. The LED Bulb interference comment at the end was the game winner for me. I would have never made that connection and would have been baffled why the door was so intermittently responsive. Big Kudos to you for your very helpful video!!!

Really appreciate a short and factual video. I’m hoping it’s the lightbulb. I’ll change it and also try the reprogram hack. Fingers crossed it works and it’s not the big tension spring. It’s made it 19 years! This is the first time I’ve had an issue.

This is a great video, helped fix my garage door closing issue with remote after changing light bulb for the motor. I watched close to a dozen other videos and read blogs to understand what the issue is with garage motor and remote. The issue turns out related to using a LED bulb for motor which conflict with remotes signal, replacing LED with regular bulb resolved the issue. Thanks @TighWadDIY for publishing this awesome video, it saved $ for me to fix the issue.

That is correct. The LED bulbs are the culprit. Took me a while to figure it out too.

This video just saved me $300 for a new garage opener. My garage door opener is working but most of the time is having issue. As stated at the end of this video, led bulbs can interfere with the signal. This turned out true. I switch the bulbs and the garage can be open and close every time. Great video!! Thanks!!

Thanks so much for this video. What a lifesaver! I replaced the light bulb on my garage door opener and all my remote controls stopped working. I’ve been troubleshooting for days and can’t figure out what the issue was. Had the opener for over 15 years and searched websites and thought the remote control board is old and bad. The last portion of your video remind me that my new light bulb is a LED one. Replaced it with a stander light bulb and Bing, every thing back to normal and working fine now. I’d never ever thought a LED will give me so much trouble. Thanks again

Ahhhhh!!! Yes....I had an led bulb in mine. It wouldn't even light up so I just thought something was wrong with the socket or the opener. Later the remotes stopped working. Was about to buy a new opener! Found your video and replaced the led bulb with a standard 60w and WAALAA!! ...the remote works and the bulb works!! Never would have thought! You are my hero! Thank you!!

Ha-thank you! Plenty easy to program remote, BUT you were the one who solved my mystery. One door worked fine, but I could not get my other door back online even after re-programming two remotes that I've used for years. The culprit was the LED light bulb I put in about a week ago! Took it out and the remote worked fine. Thank you!

My garage door remote had been working intermittently, then stopped altogether today. Came upon this video, then recalled I recently had installed LED bulbs. ?Replaced them with regular bulbs, and remote is working again. Who knew? Not me lol. Thanx for the tip! P.S. -- will like and save this, as your opener and remotes happen to be the same as mine!

This video is short and to the point, The video speeds up at the right time. The editing is good, (we don't need to see the cover taken off) and there's a lot of information in a short period of time. One of the better videos I've seen. I'll try a regular incandescent bulb. Thank you for posting!

I have two garage openers for separate doors same brand. One works with remote,the other don't. The one that don't has led bulbs. I will change out and test. Remotes have new batteries. Both lift by hardwired buttons in garage. Thanks for the tips. Very helpful.

I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my remotes weren’t working. I was pressing the Learning button constantly but nothing. This video was the first to mention the light bulb. Once I removed the lightbulb in mine, it was able to sync with my remote. Thanks very much!

Dude!!! The LED side note you added at end... Bro you solved my issue. I was like why is my opener opening but not closing? Because the new LED light i just replaced is on when I’m trying to close it and emitting interference. Great video, sir!

Great video ! I have a very old opener remote and sometimes I have to wriggle the battery to ensure contact on both ends. Not ideal but this may get you in 👍🏼 good luck

I love u tube because of this kind of video . Thank you Sir . I also found one more trick which is as follows - -Please check door opener button/switch installed on the wall in the mudroom. Locate small button called "Learn" . Use that learn button. - Press one key on garage door remote. Thats it . This might save you ladder climb to garage motor mounted on the ceiling.

Yes it’s so odd but definitely causes issues.

@@TightWadDIY and Fyi - the led bulb causing the issue was not the bulb in the machine, it was the bulb in the garage which was only a few inches away.
