The Hillbilly Kitchen - Down Home Country Cooking

I truly wish I had known how to do this years ago. My entire family loves fresh corn-on-the-cob. This is fast and easy. There is no mess shucking it or cleaning the silks off. It slides out of the shucks and the silks stay in the shuck. No mess!
Ingredients:
Corn on the cob
Butter
Salt

I just learned this a few weeks ago, I have 30 ears in the kitchen right now that I'm fixing to do. The wattage of your microwave does matter. My daughter buys off the farm and brings momma & daddy fresh corn. God truly blessed us with the best children! Becky, you will never shuck corn any other way, Our grown son called everyone he knew and told them about this after I showed him! Blessings to you girl!

My momma used to boil water before we picked the ears from the garden. The sugar in the corn starts to turn to starch within minutes of picking. This would be a fantastic and easy way to cook corn on the cob in short order.

I do mine on my George Foreman indoor grill on a medium/high setting of course with shucks on. What I do is peel shucks down and try to de-hair the corn as much as possible and then butter the corn and fold the shucks back up and then grill them for about 3 minutes per side and about 4 turns and let me tell you that corn practically falls right off the cob.

I've been doing this for several years. One of my Aunts who was a truck farmer told me about it. I've learned a couple of thing that reduces the time you have to handle the hot corn. Cut the stem off first. Soak it in water for 5 minutes or so, then wrap it in a wet paper towel. That creates steam and helps cook the corn faster. 3 minutes in my microwave. Yours may be different. Remove the paper towel and with a heat resistant glove or a towel, squeeze from the top and the corn will come right out. Butter, salt and eat!!

No, you're definitely NOT the last person to know about this recipe - because I just learned it from you! Perhaps you're the second last, hahaha! Decades ago, I was given a set of special crystal dishes for corn on the cob, and a set of beautifyl corn on the cob holders, cute little forks that you stick into either end so you can hold up the corn without messing up your fingers. I think I used those utensils two or three times in the past 45 years, and they've been sitting in their boxes in my cupboards for decades, unused. After watching this recipe, I might bring them out of their boxes one more time to see how it goes.... Thank you!
