@amanda You Did it........the half DC stitch for an entire blanket. I Hope the Lady that was asking if you had a HDC or DC stitch blanket see's this tutorial. HDC is my favorite stitch as a beginner. I'm definetely adding this to my pattern journal. I'm still working on your " Petals " blanket. i felt like so many things you said in this video were questions I have been asking you about recently. Your stitch marker tip on the first stitch and the last stitch is game changing for me. @roselikescrochet has some really cute stitch markers in her Etsy shop.

Thanks so much. You explain it very well. The HDC stitch blanket is good for the Wool Ease Fair Isle yarn, as the yarn colors make the "Fair Isle" effect so plain stitches are better for it.

Amanda, I seem to keep coming back to you time and again. I love your channel. I have a question about the HDC stitch. How can there be so many variations on a stitch. Start in 3 chain, turn work chain 2. Others say start in 1st chain, turn work chain 1. I'm at a loss. I love the HDC but notice I always seem to have an issue with losing a stitch. Thank you!
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 2 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you keep coming back! Thanks for your support! It’s all personal preference, as I even notice variations on stitches. It’s all what you learn, so I’m just teaching others how I learned. As far as losing stitches, I suggest putting a stitch marker in the very first and very last stitch of each row and move them up after each row. That should help keep track of things.

@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 8 ай бұрын
Hello! Do you mean your chain is starting to become a little rounded? If so, it's possible your chain is too tight. I suggest going up a hook size and trying to keep your chain a little more loose. If you're making a few rows, this could mean your stitches are too tight, or you're missing/adding too many stitches to your blanket. Again, I would try and keep your stitches a little more loose. Hope that helps!

I'm curious, the 108 chains that you made... Are you creating the side of the blanket or the top or the bottom? I guess another way to ask this is, when you make the 108 chains is that a row you have created or a column? That would be helpful for me in knowing when I'm choosing the size, what it is I'm judging on.

So will I need more than 3 skeins of yarn if I’m making an adult blanket and not a baby blanket? An idea how many I’ll need?
@AmandaCrochets

Yes, you will need more skeins for a larger blanket. Depending on how big you want your blanket to be, you may need 5 skeins. I always overbuy just in case 🧶

Hi Amanda how many strands of yarns do you use to make a single stitch blanket
@AmandaCrochets

For a single crochet blanket, it would depend on how big you make it. I would buy an extra skein just to be safe. If you were to make it the same size as this blanket, maybe 6 skeins?

Hi there, I am following your pattern and it seems like my blanket is getting shorter with every row. I am starting each row in the 2nd stitch and I feel like I should be going into the first (like I would with a dish cloth). I looked back at your directions again and again to make sure I had it right but I think its getting shorter. I am new to this so maybe I just need to continue and see it through and it will be fine....
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 3 ай бұрын
It sounds like you’re skipping a stitch. I highly recommend putting a stitch marker in the very first stitch you made in the row and in the very last stitch of the row. That will help to keep your ends straight. 😊

You said at the beginning of your tutorial that we should use a stitch marker. It would really have been great if you would have actually put a stitch marker at the beginning and the end saying it is one thing and doing it is another I really have a hard time keeping my edges straight, but I’m just not quite sure where to put the stitch marker now I’m still not sure. Thank you.
@AmandaCrochets

After making your very first stitch of the row, you will place a stitch marker into that stitch. After making your last stitch of the row, place a stitch marker into that stitch. As you make more rows, you’ll move your stitch marker up one row. I will try and show stitch markers in future videos 😊

Let me clarify: I'm trying to crochet a blanket based on this video and another one. My edges are starting to be diagonal and not straight. I counted stitches and used stitch markers and it is becoming a...hmm, what's the shape again? Trapezoid? I don't remember but at this rate, if I keep going to how long it is supposed to be, it is going to be a triangle. 😂 I'm not doing something right and I can't figure it out. Please, send help. 😅
@AmandaCrochets
@AmandaCrochets 2 ай бұрын
It's possible your missing a stitch here and there? I would recommend using a stitch marker for the very first stitch and the very last stitch of each row. This should help keep your edges straight. Remember, you will work a half double crochet into the top of the chain at the beginning of each row. I hope that helps! :)
