I made it! Followed the recipe exactly, used one clove of garlic. Tasted and it wasn’t garlicky enough so added another clove. Still not garlicky enough so added them garlic powder. Yep, that made it perfect! Did I mention I LOVE garlic?!😂 Also your tip on wetting a stale pita and heating in the air fryer saved my fresh farmers market pita that was three days old. Easy and delicious dinner. Thank you! ❤

Never throw out the water from the peas until absolutely done...it can be added back into the peas to smooth it.while in mixer.

ive tried this a couple times its really hard to get all the skins off but worth the effort and remember you can always add more oils but you can't take it away.

Boil them with baking soda (just a bit), the skins come off automatically.

Love a traditional hummus. But I also make a chunky style one, that is like guacamole with chick peas. Chopped red onion, tomato, cilantro and lime folded into the smooth hummus. A true hit!

Me too. I've roasted the garlic in the oven first so then you can very easily make it in to a paste to blend it more easily. And roasted garlic tastes really nice.

@cookingwithpierre
@cookingwithpierre 10 ай бұрын
Thank you! And it does the job. It works really well for smoothies, but nothing thicker than hummus (like banana ice cream for instance is tricky) but it’s powerful, easy to clean, ideal for small portions, and the best blender I think at this price point. My favorite high-end blender would be vitamix.

Now that's the best hummus I've ever eaten. If you only have Lemon juice, one regular-sized lemon contains about 2-3 tablespoons of liquid. I also used 1/2 of salt, again it's to taste.

First of all rolling, a chickpea in a tea towel does not get rid of skins (it's not that easy) they are usually broken in half to pull the skin off. I just spent the last half hour trying to get the skins off! So blend until smooth
@hywodena
@hywodena Ай бұрын
Boil them, drain, put in cold water. Scoop out the skins floating. Carefully remove the ones rest of the skins by hand. It takes time but makes it extra smooth and creamy, it's up to you whether it's worth it

I make it with cooked garlic and use the water from the can of chickpeas. Better if the water is icy cold. And add slowly.

So tahini is something you must have to make hummus, right? I don't even know what tahini is but I'm going to look for some at the store. Dang. I was hoping to be able to just whip it up with just the spices and olive oil on hand. I'm glad I know now though, so thank you!! 👏💙
@cookingwithpierre

Tahini definitely improves the creaminess and richness of the hummus. If you omit it, it won’t taste bad, but you will definitely have to add more olive oil

It says you responded but I don't see any replies lol oh KZfaq. LOL, Anyway, I looked into it and come to find out tahini is ground sesame seeds and gives that creamy texture and nutty flavor to hummus. Yeah, I think I definitely want to use it lol I'm sorry I can't see your reply. But, thank you!!

I loosen the skins by rubbing the cooked chickpeas in a tea towel, and then picking them out, but I’m not sure how practical that would be in a commercial setting.

You don’t need the salt. There’s enough salt in the tahini. If you want to eat healthy, don’t use the pita use vegetables like celery.

@cookingwithpierre
@cookingwithpierre Жыл бұрын
I like the canned because it’s more convenient. You could also re-boil the rinse chickpeas for a few more minutes to get them extra soft, but to be honest with a good blender it’s hard to tell the difference
