EASY How to get a backlash (birdnest) out of a baitcaster in 5 seconds! Plus an alternative(Ratnest)

Pro tip to get a birds nest (Ratsnest) or backlash out of a bait caster in only 5 seconds! And if that doesn't work ill show you a alternative way so you spend less time messing with your rod and more time fishing! But really there is like 6 names for this thing? Birdnest, Birdsnest, Backlash, Ratnest, Ratsnest, Im just ganna start calling it the eagles nest! Way cooler!

I've been learning how to use a baitcaster and every time I use it I put it up for awhile do to birds nest. I could never get it out. Tried your method right after watching this video and holy damn! Works like a charm.I will be using my baitcaster alot more oftenThank you 😎

If anyone still can’t get this to work just apply more pressure right on top of the closest “knot”. It took me a while but I’m glad I didn’t cut up my brand new braided line. Thank you!

Great video, its good that you showed two methods. The thumb on the spool works most of the time but every no and then you have to get hold of that loop on the spool and just pull it. Here we call it an "overwind", suppose its because what happens, the spool goes faster than the line going out and overwinds on itself. Braid overwinds is easier to get out than mono.

Sometimes the braid is tight with the spool so you can only do this so much. You can grab the line(s) that are stopping the you from pulling, and reel it in.

Dude, I have been fishing all my life and did not know this trick. I've been using the "start pulling loops" method the whole time. My 65 year old father(lifetime fisherman) will think I'm a wizard next time we are in the boat. Brilliant! Subbed...

In my experience mono will backlash easier. Not as noticeable if you are throwing somthing heavy, but there is a noticeable difference when throwing lighter lures.

you need to tighten your drag down quite a bit then just apply as much pressure as u can to the spool while still allowing it to spin. Hope that helps.

Make sure ur drags tightened down and just apply as much pressure as u can but still allowing your spool to spin

But if it is on non braided line this will screw up your line really bad and make the line weak so be careful of that

Yea if its not braid be careful how hard you pull the line out if it catches it will kink it. Best used on braid

The combination of the 2 methods works 100% of the time. And i would say the first method is 75%

wow amazing! :) This helps a lot when casting little smaller pike lures and nest occurs. But dear god when u backlash with 130g swimbait with 20g extra weight, it's instant re-spooling. Especially with braid that doesn't spool tight XD. Just yesterday my braid dug it's way to mono-backing (reason why i'm watching this :D ), a 135m of fresh new braid- POOF! Never buying that sh*t again.

This may happen. Your best bet would be the second method i showed. Continue pulling loops out until it pulls free. Let me know if you have any questions or need me to clarify.

Almost any, it works most of the time for me but also depends on your line type and size. One of these two methods works 99% of the time for me.

Yes its 30lb braided line. And yes i think its easier to remove a birdsnest from braid actually

Lol no this was 30lb diawa braid. Thats why i used this reel for this video tho, had a larger diameter braid than my other rods so it was easier to see.
