For this easy scarf, I used a long rectangular loom with 18 pegs across, but only used 8 of them so a shorter loom will work just as well.
Product Links**:
My exact loom isn't available, but here is a set that is very similar : amzn.to/41qgrcV
Red Heart Super Saver held double: amzn.to/3IxuPaB
These work up so quickly and are easy to do while you're watching something on TV as they don't require too much intense concentration! :)
You can do these with either bulky weight yarn or two strands of worsted weight. Then all you need is the loom and the pick-style tool that comes with it and you're good to go!
People have asked for a tutorial on how to weave in the ends, so here's a link to how I do so: • Weave In Ends For A Lo...

Thank you for your video. I have a wonderful Grandson who has a brain injury, and wanted to learn to knit. We bought the loom and looked up your video. By our third lesson he was doing wonderfully. He finished His first scarf and tomorrow we will be starting on a pillow cover. He has not been so excited and proud of Himself for a long while. Thank you so much.

You did an EXCELLENT job with the scarf instructions! This is my first attempt at a scarf (I've made 2 hats) and I agree with you. The written directions that came with the kit are HORRIBLE! You made it SIMPLE and saved me a lot of time! The video is very clear and easy to see. Your choice of yarn colors allowed the stitches to be seen easily as well. THANK YOU SO MUCH! ~ Debbie K.

I can read directions on how to code a website without an editor and get further before having to ask for help than the "instructions" that came with that thing. Honestly, I wonder who writes those things sometime. I'm planning a few practice items first, then as they are single color patches, I'm hopeful to make a Doctor Who (4th Dr) scarf.

I am new to loom knitting. Already I have learned a few "tricks" that were NOT on the crappy one page of instructions I got with the loom kit. I had no idea what size each peg number meant, and I found that taking off the last one wrapped kept the whole thing from unraveling. I gotta say, I wish I would have watched you first!! The instructions with the kit were useless to me. I have been a crafter since I was 4 years old, learned on my gramma's lap! This is a whole new adventure for me, and I'm so looking forward to watching more videos and learning more stitches. Thank you for a great video!

CLAUDIA you're so amazing and cool I've not knit since I was a pre teen and I'm now 56 years old and wanting to get back into it. I'm truly enjoyed watching your video. All this time I've been trying to knit without looming. But I did have the opportunity to go through plenty practice knitting without looming. I tend to drop a stitch and etc.. but watching your video definitely convinced me so today I'm going to Hobby Lobby to purchase 2 different looming. One for a scarf and one for a hat. I'll be looking out for more of your fabulous videos and thank you for sharing this video. Take care!

Watching this in 2019. I’ve been making hats for years on the round looms but I’ve never tried making anything on the long loom until now. You’re right in that the instructions that come with it are just awful; if I had to try and work with them I don’t think I would’ve gotten very far, in fact I probably would’ve given up. Anyway thanks for making keeping it so simple and easy to understand.

Mia, I'm unable to reply directly to your comment so I hope you check back and see this. Bulky weight yarn is about equal to two strands of worsted weight (what I used) so you shouldn't have any problems there. You might need to look at the yardage of the skein. If you want a longer scarf, you might need another skein. With bulky yarn it wouldn't take long to work up so I'd give it a try and see how you like it!

Happy this helps many ppl! Please know your gauge of loom which will help you match that with the weight of yarn you will need. You are using a larger gauge loom so a bulky weight yarn is best or more than 1 strand of a lighter wt yarn like the #4 you used in this video. If you want a lacey open look you can use 1 strand of #4 on a lg gauge so it become a design choice for a accessory scarf or when making a shawl etc. The drape is needed. Last if you will use 1 strands try using an empty pen or sturdy straw and thread both strands through it will keep both strands together and makes wrapping the loom much easier! It will also keep your tension the same throughout project. You can make loops tighter when piece is complete and off the loom. Try adding tassels they go through thise ends !! Great job!!!

I too have learned to loom knit from this video...thank you for being so helpful! Right now, I'm working with this same stitch to make a scarf, but I want it to be an infinity scarf. How can I attach the ends and make it look right?
@CraftingWithClaudie
@CraftingWithClaudie 7 жыл бұрын
What you'll need to do is something called grafting or kitchener stitch. Basically, you use a long tail to mimic a row of knitting. I don't have a video currently showing how to do that, but if you search for kitchener loom knitting, there are a lot that pop up so hopefully one of those work. :)

I do! This video shows how I weave the ends in on this type of scarf. I tend to weave in ends differently for different types of projects, but this way is the easiest, simplest way for me on these. :) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7aSos6kxMq7p6s.html

This video was amazing. I've never knitted before and wanted to start, so bought this loom and, like you said, the instructions were useless. I packed everything back up and was going to return it (and the yarn) back to the store and find some other hobby but thought, what the heck, let me see if there's an on-line video. Yours popped up first and I'm so glad it did. It was so easy to follow. You're amazing. Thanks so much !!!

I'm glad I found this video. My loom also came with instructions that made no sense at all. I used only one strand for my first project. I don't think it looks horrible this way but I do think two strands looks better. Or maybe a thinker yarn would be better if I only wanted to use one strand.
@CraftingWithClaudie
@CraftingWithClaudie 10 жыл бұрын
When I make these scarves, I usually use two strands of worsted weight yarn held together or one strand of bulky weight yarn just because I don't like the gaps I get when I work with just one strand of the thinner yarn. It all depends on the yarn, really. :)

This simply does not work. It looks cool when you finish but the smallest tug on any of the strings and your scarf or blanket is ruined beyond repair. I know I'm doing it right. I've tried this method to make several different items and was disappointed every time.

Try using bulkier yarn or more colors at once. Should fix your problem. Make sure you get your yarn from a reliable brand.
