When I prepare to listen to Angelina’s new releases I hand my heart and soul over to her because she’s just going to own them anyways.

Maybe the hardest thing for Angelina in the next few years will be for her to retain her authenticity as she branches out and leaves the nest. I love most of her song choices and this one is among her best. She is God's gift, along with lots of lesser known's, to a generation in crisis.

I watched this within about 2 hours of its release. Since then I have watched the original about 6 times and about 30 reactions. Considering how quickly Angelina came out with the TikTok scratch pad version and then rolled out this video I have to think it has a very special meaning for her. And, having Mery in the video may give some indication of what it might be. But, as usual, she leaves it open-ended enough for each of us to find our own meaning. I can't stop listening to it. Her interpretation, phrasing and breath control are beyond belief.

First off, let me say Adele is great. However, because she wasn't rooted in jazz like Angelina, who after hearing all the greats of yesteryear like Billie Holiday, and then being drawn to the inflection style of the most unique jazz singer of all time, that being Amy Winehouse, Adele is unable to deliver ballads with such a soul searing passion that it just permeates the human inner soul like Angelina.

Wonderful reaction Deborah, I was right there with you every note. That was the 6th or 7th time I have listened to the performance, and it just gets better every time. Others have also commented on the obvious improvements in her technique. Her belting sounds more relaxed now. And kudos to Adele for the great song!

Debra, this is the most dramatic I have ever seen her when she is performing. Besides her vocal gymnastics she was painting a picture of the lyrics with her hands. We can definitely believe she was influenced by grandma's presence at the studio and wasn't that a beautiful scene with the two of them together. Something else to take notice of is the slight differences in both versions. Rather than say one is better than the other I would instead point out it is an indication of Angelina's creativity the way she can put a different twist on the song. Have a great day, Debra. This is such a special cover, with so much emotion and with her grandmother there after her operation...I'm convinced that much of Angelina's passion in this song is due to having been through that recent trauma, worrying about her grandmother's health, and reflecting on her own life so far as a "child" singer...it's there in the lyrics, even though Adele had such a different message from her own lived experience. Still the song somehow translates to this 15 year old. I too had tears in my eyes, during the first listen to this performance and now many views later... How awesome that you were able to catch the release live from work! That must have been amazing. Thank you for continuing to react to this incredible artist.
