It is a form of art that is usually done in front of the house. Daily. Used to be done with chalk or rice flour. The spiritual reason being to invite the gods to your house. The practical reason being ants would eat the rice flour and not enter your house. In the south during the festival season especially Jan everyone ups the ante and add color. It used to be a veritable competition between all the households. People used to go around the neighborhood and check each other's rangoli (muggu in the south).

Been to India for 6 months due to my uni course. Easily one of the happiest and best time of my life. Riding my bicycle around, going to food courts, and eat with hands like the local and them them. Tried out different types of curry and non-curry dishes, my favourite was the omelette I had every morning for breakfast from a street merchant. For snacks, I usually had roti with curry sauce, and if I want something else to go with it, I'd always get a lentil soup. It was simple and so damn delicious. I unknowingly stumbled across someone's wedding once, I thought it was a local festival, I end up celebrating with them, lol. Holi festival was madness, it was like Song Kran in Thailand but with colour. It was so symbolic and had such an amazing vibe. Everyone was celebrating, everyone was happy, foreigners were welcomed with open arms, including myself. India is truly an amazing country to visit. Such a beautiful and majestic place with rich history and culture. Everyone should visit India at least once in their life. India is not as bad as the media portraits it to be, especially in Europe. There is always a risk everywhere you go. From my travelling experience, my best advice is to always check for local crimes in every city you want to visit. Be vigilant of your surroundings, check-in with your local country's embassy, stay where there is a lot of people, have a reality check with your self before you travel, and have a common sense. You can find open source intelligence reports online for free. If you have money to spare, get in touch with a security company that can provide full evacuation, security, and real-time satellite tracking services for your peace of mind.

Tbh, it's really weird seeing forgiener here cause ususally we indians only watch these kinds of vids, but I am really happy that more PPL are knowing us !! ❤️ Also it's funny seeing them be confused, but "I AM HERE!". (IYKYK) this is called rangoli We indians make it every year on diwali, a festival of India And yes, we just take our broom and swoop our hardwork into the trashcan ✨

I'm really sorry if this is offensive, but I'm just curious, is it for a purpose? Or is it just "make a pretty picture with the sand". I went looking to see if anyone explained why you make the Rangoli but it doesn't look like anyone has yet.

@@ksglitch6463 no need to be sorry.. not only for decorative purpose. In ancient times, people put rangoli made up of rice powder to feed ants and other insects. But now it's only chalk powder and in South India even now, every morning we draw rangoli at the entrance of house. Next morning we remove the old rangoli to draw the new one. Only in festival days we use color powder to decorate it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d9ScorGFttjMl3k.html check this out, an interesting type of rangoli, it is more like a puzzle.
