As someone who works in a tire shop. You’ll go to a tire shop when this fails on a really hot day but for something to get you outta a jam it’s a good tool to have.

As someone who use to be a tyre fitter. No this is not a permanent fix and do not do this as a permanent fix. Things like these are designed to get you out of trouble until you can get to a tyre shop and get a permanent fix done, a permanent fix is done with a what is nicknamed a mushroom plug (I can't remember the proper name for it), the plug is pulled through from the inside of the tyre, the stem comes through the hole and the head covers the area around the puncture from the inside.

False advertisement this is not a permanent puncture repair , a permanent puncture repair involves removing the tyre from the rim and patching the puncture from the inside.

Fine for a temporary fix but not long term. At your first possible chance, take that tire in and have it broken down and patched properly from inside. Failure to do so could very well result in separation of the belts and destruction of your tire.

As someone who's actually a licensed mechanic, can I please ask that everyone STOP using these stupid things. First of all, they're only a temporary repair. Says so right on the box, 99% of the time. Secondly, I haven't seen a single one of these repairs that hasn't leaked months later. Guess what happens then? You have to come to the shop to get the patch you should have gotten in the first place... That is, if your temporary fix hasn't screwed up the inside of the tire beyond our ability to vulcanize a patch in place. Meaning, your attempt to save money might actually cost you more.

fun fact. In nz these repairs are illegal for cars that are registered. You have to get a plug repair where you strip the tyre off the rim and a rubber plug is inserted into the hole from the inside of the tyre

These are illegal in Denmark and other countries because you cannot inspect the damage from the outside. Tire always has to come off, to inspect for internal debris and damage.
