Awesome bike!! Thanks for the inspiration!! I'm having one built, and it should be finished in the beginning of 2022. I'm using a drum brake on the front wheel as well. If it's not enough stopping power, I'll change to a disc brake like you did. My all time favorite bike ever built. I was blown away in 1969 when I saw the movie for the first time, and Peter Fonda rode the bike from behind the shack. Fifty two years later, and my dream is coming true. Thanks again!!

In 1969 I was in Junior high, and I was an avid plastic model builder. Being a model builder meant I had tons of parts from other models, because back in their heyday extra parts were included in the kits, if there were two ways it could be built. Sometimes there was the "stock" version, and the "custom" version, for both cars and motorcycle models. So after seeing the movie, Easy Rider, I wanted to build some motorcycle models, that resembled those bikes. I did everything back then, custom paint, pin striping, taped off parts, with stencils, to get the "look' just right. Most motorcycle models weren't designed to be turned into "choppers", with the extended long front forks, or to have "sissy bars, behind he seats. I custom made all those parts, from the plastic "framing" that held the all the parts, until assembly. Cut them apart and spray painted with silver paint to get them to look like chrome, was the way to go. I custom painted the gas tank, in Red, White & Blue, to match the Captain America bike. I used to enter my other creations in local model builders competitions, as well. I'd added "flock",...a kind of fiber, that could be glued to the plastic car seats, to make them look like they had velvet or velour, upholstery. I'd make exaggerated shifters, from bent straight pins. I created wide and tall, "slicks",..special tires, for "Funny Cars". I'd use the plastic caps from spray paint cans, paint them to look like over sized tires, combined with chromed, "moon" type hubcaps.I worked with special putties, to create customized fenders, or to streamline the bodies. One particular VW Beetle model I built, won me an award, and mention in a local newspaper. I radically customized the fenders, made those larger tires from the caps,....I set an engine into the front end, with a "blower" air intake, protruding from the top of the hood, ( implying there was an engine in the front, instead of the rear.) Painted the whole thing a dazzling bright yellow. By time I was high school, I had moved on from that hobby, but I decided to become an artist, and I pursued that in college, and grad. school. And I became one. I built custom furniture, I was also a print maker, and I taught art at the college level.

Lots of critics here, there have been lots of replicas built and they nearly all have front brakes and the rake is different to the original because Peter Fonda has said that the original was terrible to ride. And to the comment that you should have used a drum on the front, the original didn't have a front brake at all. Yeah I've researched this pretty well because I'm building one myself but it will be a look alike but practical, Evo motor and discs both ends. Well done.
@davidsmith52634 ай бұрын
Thank u mate yes we built it for a customer on a budget. And he rides it every day .good brakes . And enough rake to look great and be practical to tide well he has changed the risers since with the original dog bones wich makes it look more like the original. Appreciate your comments 🙏
