Absolutely ingenious! Installed three cameras yesterday in under an hour using this technique. Love the fact that you can take them down and move them around when needed. I had the same question as some other responders regarding the size of screws used to secure the mounting bracket to the aluminum bar. I found that #6-32 1/2" flat head machine screws worked great after drilling a hole using a 1/8" bit. I did have to grind off the excess screw tip on the backside of the bar, but that was simple. Thanks for the great suggestion, @tightwaddiy! I will definitely be using this technique again when adding additional cameras.

Great video! I just got a few of these cameras myself and am looking of ways to set them up under the eaves on soffit so this will be perfect. Question, i read that it is recommended you don't set them up higher than 9 feet high and it looks like you might have gone higher than that. Do you think this might be why the motion sensor isn't as good as you would like it?
@TightWadDIY
@TightWadDIY 3 жыл бұрын
I would say mounting them lower would give you better views of faces. Mine is a little high for that. The motion range just isn’t very far on these cameras.

Interesting. In light of the new wave of theft of catalytic converters, I am looking for something to supplement our 12 YO wired motion sensor triggered floodlight. I am 72 YO & on SS and want to mount something near the top of the now unused Basketball backboard that will look down on our automobile. Just having the light is only marginally useful since I have to look out the kitchen window to notice the light is on. And a professional thief can steal your catalytic converter in about 2-3 minutes. I am especially concerned about overnight criminals showing up, since our driveway has no neighbors living directly across from it. I wasn't aware of the 9' recommendation and I am also concerned about exposing these cameras to southeast PA weather conditions. I've just begun researching this. My wife has a doorbell Ring camera set up on her Apple phone. But I would rather have this second ring device set up on an old Android phone that I upgraded from recently. Dont throw those "other small screws" away, they are for when you add the "solar panel" you have to slide off and remove the back of the ring cam, punch out the perforated circle, rotate it and slide it back on the back. Hang the solar panel next to the camera, plug it into the back of the camera, and you will see a very small hole that you will need one of those tiny screws, screw one in, it's for the purpose of not allowing water to get into the ring camera. If you don't do this, when it rains water can get in.

We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version kzfaq.infoUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
