Watch a second video with a different view: • Easy roof snow removal...
A very easy way to remove snow on an sloped roof. I modified an actual roof rake. Now I don’t have to pull the snow anymore and be injured. Gravity does the work. It took 20 minutes instead of more than 2 hours. I made it light and very sturdy.

Bonne chance !

They call them Krazy Karpets. They are carpets which kids slide on the snow. I bought them at the hardware store. I assembled them together with small rivets. Don’t forget to install wheels to elevate the tool and avoid damaging the shingles. Good luck !

Hi Benoit. Great job! Yours is one of the best homemade ones I've seen yet! I love the Krazy Karpet idea. All the tarps that most folks use seem too flimsy and blow around in the wind. Tell me, what did you use as your frame/snow cutter material? Looks much thicker than most, which looks like it avoids the flexing problems.

Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate. For the frame, I folded 2 aluminium sheets 4 inch of depth, 6 inches of height, 16 inches wide. The same width as the carpets. The upper U-shape part is 1/8“, and the bottom U-shape part is 1/16“. They are screwed together by addind wheels on the front corners. For the handle, I used 2 metal cable straps and 2 screws through the handle for a total of 6 screws. So it won’t bend in any directions.

Excellent! Thanks for the quick reply. Let us know how it continues to hold up. Looks like we are going to need one a LOT this winter...lol.

Why is that red thing flopping around so much and is it necessary? Also, it seems you have to be allowed over on the neighbour's side to do it. Let's hope this is possible for others.

The red thing provides a slippery surface that makes the cult pieces slide much, much easier as they break off.

Exactly, the red carpet is so slippery that snow chunks slide down the roof with the gravity. And by the way, I shovel the snow for my neighbour. He’s old and appreciate that I do that for him. So there is no problem for me to walk on the other side of the hedge for removing the snow on my roof. Have a good season with just enough snow for cross country skiing.

@@bengazzara1324 Just curious, I've watched several videos like this (they are relaxing for some silly reason) and I wonder how often you wind up doing this. The ones from Japan and Alaska show snow four or five feet thick.

@@pschroeter1 Hello. Usually, if I have the time, I remove the snow from this part of the house almost after each snowstorm which would accumulate from 10 to 20 inches. I have a video where you see almost 2 feet of snow, that’s because I didn’t have the time to remove it. It was the accumulation of 3 snowstorms and iced rain mixed. Thanks for watching !

Unfortunately, when the snow is much taller than the snow removal tool it takes way too much strength to push through to do the job ! Therefore, by watching other tools which do not have a top bar, slice much better, especially with taller sidebars!
