This was the best tutorial I’ve come across ! Thank you so much. I have my 6 year old daughter, my 4 teenage sons, 2 nephews and 2 of my nieces( all pre-teens) coming over next weekend, we will be tie dyeing for the first time. They are all really excited (so am I 😊). I’m sending them ALL your video to watch ahead of time so they can choose which design they like the best!!✌️& ❤️🧡💛💚💙

Came to find out what you do with soda ash (I've been using Tulip One Step until now so didn't need to know) and I'm really happy that you mentioned that the solution can be saved! I don't think that would have occurred to me but it makes sense.

I got my dye in a jar...whats the ratio to water?..like 1 teaspoon dye to a cup of water like rit?..bought mine on Amazon n it said it came with complete instructions but it only had the tub/vat instructions n i want to tie dye

Sodium carbonate (also known as washing soda, soda ash and soda crystals, and in the monohydrate form as crystal carbonate). You can buy it at a pharmacy or a convenience store.

Take baking soda. (arm and hammer) and bake it at 350 for one hour. It turns it into soda ash

When doing several different colored shirts at the same time, once you rinse them all, can they be washed in the machine together?

Yes! After the first wash, Jacquard dyes are completely permanent and washfast so you shouldn't have any issues laundering together with other colors

if i don't want ANY white in my shirt; should i tie the shirt loosely so i can make sure the dye gets everywhere? (but i want a tight tyedye pattern, just without the white parts)

Yes. There are also two other tips for reducing white in the design: 1. After soaking in soda ash, allow the fabric to dry completely before dyeing. 2. Use hotter water in your dye bottles.

How do you dispose of the soda ash? Is it safe enough to tip it down the drain or toilet?

Yes, it is probably little enough that you can pour it down the drain without worry. You can also save it for next time!

Soda Ash is non-toxic and safe and necessary for making the colors bright and permanent. If you don't use it, the colors will be pale and wash out quickly.

How much water do I have to mix with the chemicals ? 2 Gallons with soda ash. And what about the other chemical ? One teaspoon with 120 ml of water ?

The dyes won't show up well on black. Unless you bleach it to white first.
