I use Dawn dish soap, and after rinsing I do a quick rinse spray with distilled water. Then I blow the excess water off and dry the frames. I try to not touch the lenses at all except for when using the dawn soap. Always try to wash them off instead of wiping them.

Great video. We all get forgetful (at least I do) and sometimes use the wrong stuff to clean glasses. Thanks for the reminder!

Do you have a vid to take care frames with soft rubber. Reason being, these soft rubber will become sticky over time
@sportrxeyewear
@sportrxeyewear Жыл бұрын
Hey Adrian, the 'stickiness' factor usually occurs when the rubber is repeatedly exposed to excess heat such as leaving them in the car or on the dashboard on a hot day. I know you said the pre-moistened wipes are a no no. However, when out on a boat and getting saltwater spray on them, what do you suggest? Ive always used the wipes because they pack in a tackle bag easy, dont leak, etc..
@tylerandersen9410
@tylerandersen9410 2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! Honestly, especially considering we're talking about (potentially abrasive) saltwater air, I'd recommend dousing them with fresh water to rinse off any solid particles that could scratch your lenses before wiping them with anything. The pre-moistened wipes won't wash off any solid particles before you wipe, so the chance of those particles causing abrasions is higher. Keep in mind that these are 'best practices' and not necessarily hard/fast rules. Thank you for watching and asking!

Any tips for the rubberized frames? I have Ray-Ban Justin’s and didn’t know if there is a special way to clean them as opposed to regular plastic?

I recently purchased a nice set of shades with polycarbonate lenses. I anm thinking that as polycarbonate naturally blocks all UV that such glasses would not be using a coating. Is that likely correct in most cases?
@sportrxeyewear
@sportrxeyewear 7 ай бұрын
Hi! While they will have UV protection, the lenses will still lack scratch & glare protection (and Bluelight) unless those specific coatings are added to the buildout.

can you buff out scratches?

I dropped a pair of my glasses and ended up with a small scratch in a lense. It only bothered me when I looked through the lense though. I called SportRx and was able to send the glasses to them and with their expertise, they were able to resolve the issue. Their customer service is amazing.

@C T is very kind! If you were to have gotten them from us, we do our very best to take care of you! To best answer your question - what I mean by 'take care' is that we will replace the lenses. There is not a way to buff out scratches, unfortunately. If there were, our lives would be much easier! There is not a way to buff a scratch out through the coatings and then re-apply those coatings and get the lens to a perfectly clear state again. I'm sorry!

@@tylerandersen9410 SpotRx helped me with a lens that got a small pit when I accidentally dropped my first pair of prescription glasses. Since then, I have followed the wisdom: "On your face, or in the case" seems to be a smart approach and I have at least tried to be more responsible since then. Actually since I ordered the glasses initially through SportRx I was able to send them in and have the crew work their magic and make them new again. I have been enjoying a lot of the videos the SportRx experts have been posting lately. The video reviewing some excellent sunglasses for women for hiking and other outdoor activities - I ended up sending a link to a few female friends who I thought would find the video informative. Please thank everyone there for all they do, I know many of you are passionate about your work and put in long hours for the benefit of people like myself. Thank you all for all you do!

What about q tips and isopropyl to clean the corners?
@tylerandersen9410

That works! Great idea! Just go easy on the pressure. I'd expect too much and the Q-Tip has the potential to scratch the coatings.

How do you remove water marks
@tylerandersen9410
@tylerandersen9410 2 жыл бұрын
Try the alcohol tip! Starting by wiping the lenses with Isopropyl alcohol and following up with a lens cleaner. The alcohol should take off the water marks and the lens cleaner will remove the streaks that the alcohol alone tends to leave. Thank you for watching!

Nooooo, YOU SHOULD USE A CLEANING SOLUTION THAT IS ALCHOLE FREE ON ANY PRECRIPTION LENSES THATS A SIDE NOTE DIRECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER

A diluted solution with a bit of isopropyl alcohol is quite effective at removing oil buildup at the corners of the frame when *used sparingly.* However, too much can indeed cause damage to some lens coatings and frame materials.
