What a splash!! After 18 weeks it's finally time to launch my homebuilt skiff!
Weather was perfect with plenty of sun and winds 11 to 20 kt!
The skiff surpassed all expectations and it was planning with every gust!
Helm was balanced and at no stage I felt out of control or as if I was fighting the boat.
Just awesome!

Iook fast an fun to sail! I would like to see you add an outrigger to your boats, try do to a sailing canoe like in Moana. The design she has does not need to shunt, it keep in the same direction and you use your weight and the outrigger to balance the force of the sail.

Muito brigade. My most successful BYBB (Back Yard Built Boat was a “Brick”, a BOLGERism similar in design if not dimension to your Oz Goose. She was named “Slick Brick”; she road on top of cars or in the back of pickups to the Texas Gulf Coast (and the Florida Atlantic ICW) for ~10 years ‘til she just plain wore out. Nothing as utile since.🇺🇸

Great little boat ... noting another Michael Storer work of art in use. Looks like a little getting used to the tack on that one, with less room to it's "dance" as you jump side to side. Still, so much smoother than I would be. Good time Teo... all the best.

Brilliant launch and maiden sail! She handles well in the gusts, and even on gybes, with centering the main sheet. Enjoyed the flotilla, too! This launching video is dramatic compared to others of home made boats, as you had to learn immediately to trim the boat for gusts-without prior practice on a calm lake. I wondered how she would flap or skid (yaw) upwind, but she seems to handle well with a little heeling. The steering is responsive even with the rudder part way up. Overall, one of your best videos!

Hi Charles, the sail isn't that small, it's 8sqm, most 3.6m dinghies don't carry that much sail. But I would like to have an extra couple of sqm for the low wind days too...

That's a blast! My favorite dinghy sailing channel on youtube. I am building my own nesting dinghy type boat too, almost finish now. Can you share your rudder box build? how do you secure the rudder? I am still deciding to build rotation type or just a simple box like yours. Thanks! : )

The rudder box is just ... a box. The ruder is secured with some bungee cord. lift/kick up rudder can't really be used in any other position than fully down without affecting the helm balance. Congratulations, Teo. The best solution I've seen for breather holes in buoyancy tanks is to insert a small pvc tube, say 3mm into a drilled hole leaving the end free. This prevents water being sucked in as the boat flexes. We used them on ply scow moths.

I guess you are familiar with RS Sailboats? Every one of them has a 2.5mm breather hole somewhere, so I'm thinking you could leave your drill holes to allow pressure equalisation. Boat looks like it sails nicely, I'm interested to see if you will keep the Goat now you have this: I have a little home-built boat but I also want something to camp in, interested to see how your thoughts develop.

Good speed. Two Thumbs Up. Double dagger board with rudder provides good lateral counter effort. I might add planes for hydrofoil lift(boards & rudder) and employ two forward side boards with planes instead of the one on the center line. Sails_ Fore and aft two sail plan or big batted single like a sailboard.
