We need more low-priced models with reasonable detail like this. A bit of effort can make them great as you've shown. I'm one of those folks that will pay through the nose for that "special" loco, but for the rest, a reasonable likeness at a decent price is what we're after.

Another great little video Jen. Looks cracking. Iron horse weather looks good too. Keep the good work up folks.

Comes up good.think id sacrifice cab lights at one end and install an engine light instead perhaps including a grey piece of plastic as a dummy prime mover inside.

Thank you for such a well thought out video. Iron law, the soldering iron always finds the plastic on the bench.

Great work - it looks and performs like a premium-priced model! It might be good to paint the cab interior with pale grey paint - like the prototype and maybe cut out a printed picture of the desk dials and controls (shrunk to the correct size) and stick to the bulkhead inside below the front windows.

Jennifer, I have a class 47 in the railroad range, I also have lights that you used. So I will have a go at putting lights in the 47. Thanks for the ideas

For us old gits, this is the way we always did things 👍. If they could do a decent range at around £40-50 they’d sell like hot cakes…

How come you didn't give the cab detail a quick wag over with paint? I had a similar idea with all the cab details from the Rotted out Class 31s like that too. One great supplier for lighting for the locos like this and others is Stickswipe on E-Bay, Maybe you should try some of their kits and show how they are fitted too?

Thanks for this Jenny. I have a similar Railroad GWR Class 57 and although firmly DC due to the age of many of my locos, your ideas are definitely things I am going to look into doing.

That was a really interesting video adding features to unused decoder pins. I'd also see this expanded to add DCC decoder into an old model with no dcc at all. I believe someone sells a pcb to connect a decoder too, just wiring up the motor and track then being needed. Worth an experiment as I'm sure many people have pre-dcc locos that would like an upgrade.

Hi jenny, can you still add lights if you only run dc or is this only for dcc

Sorry but what is the point of adding cab lights? The model doesn't have any interior details. Lights in the former headcode panel, and red tail lights are fine.

Anyone know what's happening over on tramfabriek as I want to support the sponsors, but everything seems to be out of stock and has been that way since I first checked

They should all be back in stock now. There were issues with getting the processors to make the decoders but I believe that’s sorted.
