Good video bro. Im a fitter by trade, always good to see other ways to make field cuts and adjustments. Well done by a skilled craftsman.

Then when you FINISH, transfer it to some High Heat Gasket Material that is NOT over one sixteenth thick and FILE it away!!! Then the NEXT time you need to cut another one like it you simply pull the template up from the file. When the template wears OUT trace another one around it. I "saddled" and cut branches and "notches" with pipe for years all I ever used was an Oxy-Acetylene Torch with a CLEAN TIP that was the correct size and pressure. It is FASTER than using a notcher on custom builds. If you are makling a large number of identical products then a notcher is fine, but as long as you are working STEEL on custom builds a Torch with a TEMPLATE is fastest. On thick walled tube or pipe, this will NOT work as well, but it will give you a place to start. BB

If you watch for the welded seam in the pipe & use that as either your top center or your bottom center, you just saved yourself a lot of alignment stuff when cutting a mouth on the other end. The seam becomes your mark.

I have all the tools and some knowledge of cutting and welding but your knowledge goes far beyond mine and i told him to watch you and only you to get started. Y'all know the right way to do this, right? Sit down one afternoon and make 'perfect' fitting pipes in all the common sizes in your shop. Then use each of these specimens to make templates! Got a 5cm pipe? Use the lay-out template! The lay-out can be tedious, so only do it once!
