Tuesday Blues #247 - mybgi.net/2VrwTLO
Delta Blues is fun to play but to me, it carries a deep meaning and playing with feeling is a must. It’s as much therapy as it is music for many. But the mojo can seem impossible to learn. In this lesson, we’ll get started in Delta Blues in perhaps the easiest way possible:
Strumming the Delta Blues
Strumming the right chords with just a couple of well-placed “feeling” notes can go along way toward getting a great bluesy sound going. This lesson will help you get going by showing you the strums and those few blues notes.
Enjoy the lesson!

I've got a thumb pick around here somewhere, but have never gotten comfortable with it. I should probably give it another try. I tend to either flat pick or fingerpick. I think I prefer the fingerpicking, I have never had to spend twenty minutes trying to shake my fingers out of the soundhole of the guitar like I have with a flat pick. This one I think I am going to work on in all three picking styles.

Nice lesson with great options for different styles and future improvisation. I do all three styles, but this last year really working on thumbpick. I like the thumb pick for getting that Mance Lipscomb damped thump bass sound which really improved my timing and could be the part B for this lesson. I find the ergonomics better for my arthritis with the thumb pick, but some of my old songs, I cannot transition to the thumb pick easily, so I do it all. For those just trying to learn the thumbpick, the white fred kelly thumb pick, the narrow "speedpick" was the best at first, but now I like the orange fred kelly TP with the stubby short thick pick the best and it flat picks well when you want to strum. Dunlops never stayed on good for me and were too tight.
