@@arnavshukla2408 woah, thats quite smart! Simple to set up (if you got the tools & know-how). I had a lot of personal preferences and requirements that I wanted. Many possible extra task details like expected time, and ordering them by priority or time. Eventually a way to generate a small sub-set list that is do-able in one day (calculated from said taks time details). So I'm building an application from scratch using Svelte -- Javascript backend & frontend. I discovered Svelte Tauri, which is build on rust that makes a whole svelte project very easily multi-platform deployment. To make the whole software an offline desktop application (and eventually should be easy enough to deploy an online version as well as an mobile version) --- Yea I know... It's quite a bit over-kill for wanting a to-do list. Haha

To be frank, South Korea is kinda on a Dystopian speedrun when it comes to forcing their children to study and get to a good school and university at any cost. The amount of pressure these children go through, isn't all that related to "Motivation" and "Drive", but rather to live upto the insane expectation their family and academia have from the students. They have to study even with less sleep, through sickness because that's the overall culture that's been formed in the schools. The children burns out, the private schools and private coaching centers (which they attend after finishing school in the evening) keep making money. South Korea has probably the highest rate of Suicide amongst it's young population (School and College students and young people in general). Being disciplined is fine and desire to change your life for better is very good. But let's not overdo it to the point that being insanely disciplined even at the cost of being crazy becomes the social norm in schools and workplaces. Nothing good is gonna come out of it. Well, we are already quite close to that speedrun in the US compared to other countries in Europe.

Just as a side note. Sleep is important. Don't do what south koreans do. You can be an expert in lots of stuff by also spending 8 hours a day instead of 18 hours. Plus, most south koreans do it with the purpose of pleasing their family/teachers. If you want to be good at something do it because you want to do it, not because others want you to do it.

Eventually you’ll “want” to do work, or at least feel less less motivated to do it. and ofc like everything it takes time and patience, with bumps all over the road

oh thank goodness a new easy, actually video. I was actually contemplating suicide by hanging before this video was uploaded. The drought of good KZfaq content was getting too much for me. I couldn't enjoy being with my family because I had to check if easy, actually had uploaded. Every time when I saw that there was no new video, I broke down in tears and wondered why the world would play such cruel tricks on me. Now, I can rest easy for the next 8 minutes and 7 seconds of my life, before the withdrawals begin again. Thank you easy, actually for saving my life.

Dang… this is the video I needed. My biggest problem I have with myself is my inability to stay on task and get motivated to do things I know are good for me. I get so stressed out with the what-ifs I often delay myself from working as hard as I should. Your channel is an inspiration, from the quirky yet simple art style to the catchy titles and down to earth explanations. The fact that you’ve done this all in less than a year is amazing, you even have a sponsorship! I hope with enough time I can get to that point too, in my own way. Cheers 🍻

One of the big things that this video doesn't take into account is... the rest of life. Like, living with family, or wanting to hang out with friends, or play video games, or even just having certain subjects we like a lot better than others. I can make a to-do list to work on all of my homework, and be super motivated about doing everything one at a time, but none of that matters when my parents tell me I have to start babysitting my younger siblings who always argue and tear up the house when my parents are gone

1:48 It's worth noting that this isn't true by itself. In fact, we're facing a crisis where people doing lots of work is causing depression --- the polar opposite of motivation. You need to have some sort of reward for the work, whether emotional or otherwise (such as knowledge you're getting closer to a goal you really care about). You also need a sort of "fear" for what would happen if you don't do the work. I've found that this is why it's so easy to be addicted to social media. I knew it made me dopamine to see videos, so in a sense I have that reward even when the video just makes me angry. But it wasn't until I took a nearly whole day's step back and realised there was also a lot of fear of missing out, especially with politics.

Motivation won't get you anywhere. It's a temporary feeling that can make you productive for a short period of time, but once that motivation is gone, you'll just slack off and do nothing. You need the discipline to do things when you're least motivated, regardless of how you feel. This is just plain generic advice you're giving that won't really help people in the long-term. I'm not saying you have to ignore your feelings when you have to do important work to do, no matter how you feel, but there will be moments in your life, most of the time, when you just can't afford to run your life according to your level of motivation. You just have to do things whether you're motivated or not and once you're not motivated you're going to go downhill because you've got nothing to stand on as you were dependent on your motivation/feelings, unlike when you're disciplined because it's always beneficial even in the worst of times when it really matters. It's not like people should go to the gym or exercise depending on how motivated they are. When it's time to exercise, even if you don't feel like it (there will be many days and most days you won't feel like going to the gym because it's difficult), it's even more important to go and start because it will rewire you to be more disciplined despite having no motivation. It will always lead to something positive in all aspects of your life.

You are not entirely wrong, but you also don't contradict whatever is said in the video. I will, however, disagree that motivation is not important. Doing things with no motivation will just cause you to burn out. It is indeed important to sometimes bite the bullet and force yourself to work in order to get the motivation and start the cycle talked about in the video. If you have no motivation - do work to get it and motivate yourself by telling yourself why you want to do it. This is literally said in the video.

One of the best pieces of advice I have used is a done list. This is helpful to me because I like to use notion, an online platform, to organize my schoolwork. Since I don't have the tangible feeling of crossing it out on paper, i can click the box and drag it to the done list side. It's so nice to see your to do list get shorter and your done list get longer. But the biggest thing is to just do it. It can be anything, the task can be as small as you need since it will help you build up.

My cycle looked different: Work -> anxiety -> distraction -> more anxiety -> more distraction etc. rinse and repeat for a few years and you'll end up with depression. I am thankful that I actually figured out that there was something wrong with me and that I got help even though it took me way longer to reach out for help than I would have liked. What actually helped me was to start being honest with myself. I now track how much I actually do and use two to do lists. One for the easy tasks and one for the hard tasks so that whenever I lack the motivation to do the hard tasks I can just go to the easy tasks and do those. Sure, I won't ever do all my hard tasks but I will do a lot more than nothing.

Reality is we Indians, koreans, japanese work way more time & are way more smart than Westerners what i've understood is that whenever we don't feel like studying we just say ok sit on table, study for 15 mins take break again repeat it and we become motivated after these few sessions. So,motivation is backed by action, action isn't backed by motivation.
