I love the guy at 12:00 describing the pain-in-the-butt guy ordering some specialized coffee who sounds like your average soy-boy at Starbucks. Then he talks about hooking up an IV! My kind of coffee drinker! This guy is a real comedian! Great interview! Now I'd visit Italy just to try all the coffee bars.

So glad to have just learned the word "deca." I'm gonna need it when I visit Italy! And thanks to the Ottoman Turks for literally waking up the West. How did any of us manage before the 16th century? As for the man who likes to add a little liqueur to his coffee, I'd recommend Amaretto, if he hasn't tried it already. :) - Lots of helpful phrases and vocab in this episode, grazie.(Really enjoyed "rompono le scatole" man. 😄) P.S: I noticed that you asked "dormi la sera? I would have guessed that, in that case, surely, you would have said "notte." Is "sera" preferred?

Quando sono a casa negli Stati Uniti bevo caffè americano con latte di soia. Quando ero in Italia ho preso un fantastico caffè al pistacchio a Firenze e un caffè alla nocciola a Pompei. Se prendessimo un caffè così qui lo berrei tutti i giorni.

Adoro il caffè. È un rituale molto importante per me ogni mattina. Ne prendo uno con un libro. È un ottimo modo di cominciare la giornata. Normalmente preferisco un cappuccino o un americano dalla macchinetta espresso, ma dipende dal giorno. Mi piace anche la moka, ma onestamente non ho due ore per fare una tazza di caffè.

Ciao a tutti dalla Germania! I'm a big coffee drinker and a beginner in Italian. I'm a huge fan of the moka and always take it slightly sweetened. If I go out, I might get a cappuccino or something iced in the summer, but I mostly prefer plain.

Real espresso is soooo much better than moka pot. Thicker, richer, sweeter. Try the Napoli-based roasters like Saka and Kimbo!

se sai farlo bene la moka è meglio. è un' arte fare il caffè con la moka e molto del gusto lo fa il tempo da quando è stato macinato a quando lo metti nella moka. è fondamentale quello. la cremina esce se lo fai bene, anche con la moka.

It took me a minute to figure out that they weren’t talking about “Mocha” as in chocolate Mocha flavored coffee but espresso made in the “Moka”. The little metal stove top percolator 🤦‍♀️😆

I have the same problem as Matteo. Allergic to lactose. Not only that but allergic to casein. This is milk protein. I am also highly sensitive to caffeine like the blonde man you interviewed. I have a cup of tea in the morning. Coffee can make me shake. Literally!

Dopo pochi mesi in Italia non prendo mai più V60 o Chemex o altro caffè alla moda. A Roma il mio caffè preferito è quello piccolo e amaro che prendiamo al bar col mio fidanzato, e ugualmente quello della moka preparato dalla sua Mamma dopo ogni pranzo con tanto amore ❤

Non mi piace mai il sapore del espresso tradizione (espresso stretto?). Quando sono in Italia, nella mattina dopo il colazione talvolta bevo il cappuccino. So che gli Italiani non vedono di buon occhio il cappuccino dopo mezzogiorno, quindi, sono certo che sembro un ovvio turista quando lo richiedo! Pero, è l'unico modo per godermi il caffè, se la barista lo servirebbe, sono grato.

In Italia il caffè "tradizionale" è semplicemente l'espresso. Il caffè ristretto è un tipo di caffè più corto e più forte. 😊 Se non ti piace l'espresso, c'è sempre il caffè macchiato come alternativa! Ma ovviamente ognuno è libero di bere ciò che vuole, compreso il cappuccino dopo mezzogiorno! 😃

I became accustomed to sweet espresso with all the Cubans in Miami years ago because that’s how they make it at home and at the bars and restaurants. Then when I started visiting Italy I was introduced to less sweet espresso and that’s what I drink nowadays, although I’ll admit that completely bitter coffee is just something I can’t get used to. My big problem today is the crap they serve at Starbucks 😊 Great video and wonderful interviews with the people in the streets.

Espresso is originally an Italian style of coffee. I think in Miami it is a mix of many different styles.

@@BigSmallTravel - well no, not the Cuban “cafecito”. At home it is made in the same Bialli moka pot just like in Italy except they make it really sweet and make the crema with the sugar mixed with the first drops of coffee into a sort of paste to which they add the rest of the coffee after it’s finished brewing. At the bars and restaurants they use Rancillio espresso machines just like in Rome and Milan. It’s the same identical process except the coffee roasts are different. To my taste the typical Cuban espresso roast resembles that of Neapolitan espresso but I could be wrong.

'Convenient' is normally translated as 'comodo' or 'pratico'. Moka coffee is definitely economically cheaper than espresso coffee, but not as such convenient to make - that's probably what the lady meant. 😉

Sono americana quindi ho l'abitudini strani riguardo al caffe. Al giorno lavorativo prendo tipicamente un caffe di 0.5 mL con il latte d'avena e lo godo al ufficio. Magari gli italiani mi odierebbero per questo ma spesso sono così occupata al lavoro che lo sorseggio per tutto il giorno.😅ma il fine settimana prendo il moka, lo faccio in modo corretto vi giuro

“Strega” is a herbal liqueur produced in Benevento. the brand of the liqueur is Strega Alberti, probably the name Strega (witch) derives from the legend of the Witches of Benevento.

Strega is the name of a liquor made in Campania (Naples is located in the Campania region). It is common to add liquors to caffè, could be a local one like in this case or more frequntly a Grappa or a Sambuca liquor. Also, caffè with liquor is called "caffè corretto".

Thank you for telling me that it is a brand name, I didn't know that! I just know of it's meaning in other context lol; and yes while I never mix liquor in I am a bit familiar w people doing that thank you for explaining that more as well!@@veronicamarasco9093
