Today I am going to show you the pump I use to transfer water from my Rain Barrels to my Raised Garden Beds. I purchased this pump at Harbor Freight. I have hooked up my Pump to the Rain Barrels, and then to my hose reel, and finally my soaker hose in my raised garden bed.

Great video sir. I wanted to get one of these to help remove water from the basement if it floods again. Flooded once in 24 years but I will take all the help I can.

do you have a link to the rain barrel you used in this video? For anyone who needs to know.. Residential garden hoses emit water pressure at about 9 gallons per minute. This pump does about 5 gallons per minute. So, it is sufficient enough to hook up to most residential power washes as well.

I bought this pump to drain my waterbed that was in a basement with no windows ugh I should have listened when my dad said it was a bad idea. Over 500 gallons in my oversized octagon bed. This pump MOVES water but it is anything but quite lol. This pump did leak excessively and I didn't have time to tear it down its not submersible so I had to hang it by the handle above a bucket that collected the leaking water that was a fire and shock hazard if their ever was one

Can this(the pump) be used to increase low water pressure? Part of my job requires chiller coil spraying and one area we work from we connect to a shower head and the pressure blows goats from the head to the end of the hose(some runs are 300ft.). Will this increase that pressure or will I need a stronger, but similar pump?

Can you leave that transfer pump out in the elements hooked up but unplugged? Or are the electrical elements not protected?

I keep my transfer pump and a plastic toolbox it’s outside in the elements but I also put a tarp around it just to try to keep it working

If I put a trigger nosel on the end of the hose will it damage the pump if no water if flowing? I want to be able to go from one side of the yard to another without losing water.

Centrifugal pumps can get cavitation from no flow. That could wear out parts faster. I couldnt see a minute or so at a time off the trigger to really damaging. Over longer times. The heat will bust seals

About to pick one up right now. Do you think this can suck straight up 12' from 1-1/4 shallow well that's not primed? also can it be operated sideways?

Maybe. It might be a slow to drain, but it should work. It should work sideways. But I would keep an eye on if you have it pumping for more than 2 hours.

Question: if I had a setup like this and I wanted to put the pump on a smart switch for scheduled watering, would water still leak out through the pump / hose if the rain barrel valve is left open?? Thanks much

I like the rain barrels very nice design where did you get them can you supply us with the exact company you purchased them from also buyer beware when you buy the pump at Harbor freight the minute you walk out the door you cannot return it even if you have not opened it because they’re afraid that you have put gasoline or some chemical in the propeller

When you plug in the water pump it will run even if there’s no water it will run and blow the motor.

This pump does not have a taco or an on off switch. The next horsepower up does

Is it normal for the unit to get hot after use? I just started using mine yesterday to move water from water barrels to the garden. It was pretty hot, after I unplugged it., after only about 30 minutes of use. I'm also using an extension cord, which the directions do not advise but I've see so many tutorials where an extension cord is being used. Any advice? I don't want to blow up my pump!

It does get hot, but I have had mine for going on my third year for watering my garden and knock on wood it is still working and I use it for transferring the water from my barrels to water my garden and I haven’t had any issues.

I have a pressure washer that is attached to a 200 gallon tank. The natural gravity flow of the water from the tank is not strong enough to make the pressure washer work to its fullest potential. Can I put one of these between the tank and the pressure washer, to suck the water from the water tank, and push it into the pressure washer to make it work to its fullest potential?

That should work because what I do is I just open the valve on my rain barrel and that water just flows through with gravity into the transfer pump so the transfer pump gets turned on and the water to the hose and that’s how I water my garden so it should work but make sure you do a little more research

It’s should be. I have not tried it, but the power would water a small area.

It’s loud, but if you put a towel over it, that should keep the sound low.

Yes, your hose to water with will come off of output

If you are using it just to rents this pump would be fine but if you want like more pressure almost like if you’re gonna do siding or if you have a hard dirt to get off you maybe want to go at the 1/2 go pump

@@easyprepper101 hey I did end up going with the 1/2 hp and I am very satisfied with it . I can use it like a regular hose and it even has more water pressure than my regular garden hose . Also when I stop the hose i though the pump motor might keep pushing and blow a gasket or something and it seems to just rev down a little bit

I used it to pressure wash cars but after my 5th car it tuned off and wasn’t working but next day tried it it turned on? Why did it turn off

It could be the rubber wheel that’s spins and that could be why

I ran my brand new unit for 5 minutes and It started smoking. Worked well for the 5 mins emptying a 50 gallon fish tank. Returned the unit for a refund

Most of the time it’s about 10 to 15 minutes but I’ve also use it for other and run it for hours with no issues

I do not think so. I do not think you would get enough pressure to take paint off of a deck. You would have to get a bigger pump.

I bought that exact pump. Used it on my fish water tank twice and it went bad...the motor comes on but no water goes out...it worked great the first 2 times. Have you had any problems with yours? Great Vid.

I have not had any problems with my pump. The only thing I could think of is make sure that the water hoses are connected Properly

Did your pump run dry and burn up the lil rubber impeller inside? The impeller can burn up quick. Check and see, they are really easy to replace

@@dovergerald1579 I dont know what happen, I only used it twice and i didnt run it without pumping out water. I did buy the kit and i replaced it, and yes it started working again. Thanks for all the feedback.
