It should be “Northern China”, not Northeastern China. Northeastern China is composed of the provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning. China is huge.

how bout making video on vegetarian TEmple food or more video about vegetables. In the old days, most Chinese can not afford to eat meat. If they can afford meat, only ;ittle bits of meat were used compliment their vegetable dishes.

Really like the people of Beijing boost about the imperial origin of their food . But what is really imperial in this cuisine after the departure of the elite ,cultural revolution and famine.
@teasea546
@teasea546 3 жыл бұрын
High end chefs and cooks lived through the civil war, the new government formed and they obviously employed the best they could find. Famine from the Great Leap Forward didn't affect all of China, different officials in charge in different regions had varying levels of loyalty to Mao's policy, that's why some places were devastated while others didn't implement the drastic measures that would cause famine in the first place. Beijing was the capital, food supplies were always prioritized. As for the Cultural Revolution, cook books didn't carry ideological elements from the feudal times so they weren't really the main targets. Plus it's not like it actually destroyed all of Chinese culture, the movement is more of a Mao's power struggle through proxy if you actually read the history. Many texts and artifacts were indeed destroyed but obviously a great deal remained. The culture of a people of millions and millions developed through thousands and thousands of years can't be destroyed in less than a decade's time, that's not how it works.
