When I was in university, I kept track of all of my assignments by creating an excel table with the following labels: class, assignment name, type of assignment (essay, group project, etc), due date, a checkbox to click if I completed it, and my final grade so I can keep track of my grades. I colour coded each class so then I knew which assignments I could prioritize and do first if some were worth more in %. This helped me not miss any of my assignments since I wrote every assignment even if it was just a quick quiz online. It was so helpful to get me through the weeks when I had so many things to do and was losing track!

I feel that Karli might want to try a semester on Campus to see if she missing out of certain activities and friend groups. On campus you can be in-person and be able to go to Professor for help. Her choice, but for me I like being away and experience outside my comfort zone. I see college my second home.

My daughter is graduating from ASU this fall. She dedicates a couple days a week for homework and works ahead on assignments. That creates more free time. Good luck!

I do online college (im a sophomore) and everyday for the first hour to hour and a half right after I wake up I do schoolwork. I try not to even look at my phone, I just open my laptop and start working. I find I’m way more motivated and productive when I first wake up! I also use a planner to keep track of assignments. Try this and maybe it will help!!

Also to manage time, I made to do lists. Big assignments can be done in chunks by dividing it into planning, researching, writing and then formatting/editing. Small assignments such as readings or quick quizzes can always be done last as they take the least amount of time. For working, I did my part time job 3 days a week on weekends, and 1 weekday when I didn’t have classes or if I had one class that day. I crammed everything else into school days and worked lots during my break. I suggest taking less classes if you can! Taking 4 to 5 at the most will really help with mental health :)

My biggest advice for Karli coming from a sophomore in college who was a biology major my first year (I’m now a psychology major). Make sure you obviously make an organized plan to study but, don’t over do it. Give yourself meaning breaks. I usually can only sit down and concentrate for a little over an hour. I usually take breaks to do things I enjoy. When I first started to take breaks I felt guilty. It’s easy to feel like that but I eventually learned that it’s okay if it takes me longer to complete something. Taking a break or setting aside one day a week to not do any work really helps me mentally. It’s so easy to get consumed with work but that really brings me down mentally. Just breath and know you’re trying to get your education but that doesn’t have to consume your whole life.

I’m an online student and my school is self paced so it’s all up to me. I would say you have to treat it like in-person! Get up and do your whole routine and then do all the school work. Break for like a few hours depending on how long school takes, then work. Wakes and getting up at regular times is important too! I’m out of bed by 8-8:30 am.

I really enjoyed watching this video. Ken and Candi should do one answering questions or Andrew and Karli should do one where they answer questions together. What wonderful answers you both gave!! I really liked your answer Candi where you mentioned to not worry about what others think of you in school.

When I’m in school (currently in fall semester) I have online and 1 in person class - what I do is that days that I have that in person class (Tuesdays and Thursdays ) I devote strictly to school work - I work all of the other days and whenever I’m not working I try to get assignments done as well or chores. I recommend each week writing a list - like I will list a class and then under that write what is due assignment by assignment. This way you aren’t looking at a whole semester calendar - you can focus week by week. Some weeks I’m working on homework for 12 hours Tuesdays , and 12 hours Thursdays - sometimes I can split it up and only work 3 hours tuesdays and thursdays it all depends on workload. I also recommend a desk calendar or planner. Every morning plan what tasks you have/want to do that day!

This also will help you focus on your relationships, home , and work! I always tell myself it’s okay if you don’t finish an assignment in that moment - if you need to take a couple days to finish it by the due date that is okay!! It took me awhile to realize that - I am now a senior!

I am a senior in college and I do all but one course online, and I am also in 6 classes. What I have found works best for me is doing my job during the day so like 10:00 to 5:00, and then I do school at night. If there’s something little I can do for school during the day while I’m working then I’ll do it then, but I do my big school stuff at night. I know that doesn’t work for everyone because not everyone is a night person like me, but that really has helped me have a “schedule” since my work and school are so flexible. I hope Carly is loving school! It goes sooo fast

I actually just finished school completly online like you're doing Karli but with working full time it was hard to manage my time. Anytime I did have free I would work in the middle of the day or when I got home at night. I know some people doing school work better in the morning or at night time so mapping out a routine that works best for you to cut out 2-3 hours during the day to dedicate for school time really helps instead of telling yourself to do it later. Although knowing everyday isn't the same and things need to be switched around, that is okay too but once you get in the swing of things it'll be a piece of cake! Just remember how great you're doing and that the first few months is always the hardest! Don't forget to take time for yourself too

I just finished my bachelors and am currently in an online masters business program. The best piece of advice I can give is to get out of the house when studying. Go to a coffee shop, the library, etc just for a set amount of time everyday you need to get something done. I also have my Mac customized with a background where I have every class folder on my desktop and use stickies for things I have to do for the day, etc

You can do this through the week and then post your video. It doesn’t have to be fancy..just you😊. Candi, I do almost the same on the microwave, I push 123 on basically everything 😂.

I know this may seem silly but set timers or alarms for each class. Think about it as if you went to class in college you even have times to be in that class.

The one thing I missed about going to college was being able to participate in on-campus activities. Unfortunately, I worked 3 jobs to go to college so if I wasn't in class, I was working. I don't know what clubs, if any, Karli participated in while in high school, (before COVID), but if she did she might regret not doing something similar in college. I got my MBA online and it wasn't the same. However, thinking about it, I do work full time, so maybe it was for the best. LOL. We have two Golden Conures who will basically look exactly alike once they get older. It's already difficult to tell them apart physically. However, that being said, their personalities are so different that as soon as you reach out to one of them, you know who you are dealing with. LOL The male, (Mongo), is so rambunctious while the female, (Ember), is more docile. He'll reach out to you as soon as you approach while she will wait until you're practically touching her before making a move towards you. We actually have four parrots and I cannot really pick out a favorite. My husband's favorite is Ember, (female conure), because she is the easiest to interact with.
