When I was writing a profile on the Tabasco company for one of my college-level business textbooks years ago, I called the company to request some background information. I almost fell off my chair when Paul McIlhenny himself answered the phone. We had a great conversation. What a terrific memory!

my mother used it when i was a kid, it was and is undeniably the same as it was 30-40 years ago. The logo, the bottle, the brand is something I always need, like salt and pepper. I pour Tabasco into almost everything. I also always have all the different flavors of Tabasco at home. The original is still the best. Yes, and my daughter (19) was the first to set up the Tabasco bottles in the empty kitchen of her new household and said "now it feels like home"💗🤭 generation to generation.. Tabasco is a fixed star, something that doesn't change in our fast-moving times. And I love this company for preserving history. Because it is also part of our family kitchen history...

The bridge is cool but it wasn’t born so much to prevent spills, but to make the process more efficient. If there were a valve at the end of the hose that the filler (employee) had to shut off, move to an empty barrel, turn on, fill barrel, repeat 100 times. It would not only take ~10% longer, he would also have to shut off the pump each time or have an accumulator (pressure) tank at the source, he would have extra bulk (and weight) at the end of the hose making the job harder AND he would likely end up with carpal tunnel syndrome!

I'm from Mexico, and as a mexican, I've been used to taste all kind of hot sauces from organic to processed ingredients and Tabasco was always a good option. Since I remember, Tabasco was an escencial in the pantry of my family. I lived few years in Argentina, back in the late 90s and very first years of the century and back then it was so hard to find hot sauce in the southern hemisphere. When a bottle of Tabasco popped-up, I just grabbed it like a treasure. Legendary brand!!!

Cool, I went from a Tabasco kid (only option in the house) to loving many other kinds. From Huy Fong (rooster) sriracha, franks red hot, Valentina, tapatio, Cholula, and so many others and of course any red or green fresh salsa. Now Tabasco sometimes just seems like hot vinegar to me, lacking a deeper flavor and texture of these others.

@@JacobAnawalt I agree, but Tabasco is always a good go to sauce if short on choices. I grew up eating spicy foods since I was a child(born into the US coming from a Central American family, we love spicyness). Still love spicy foods or making food spicy with my favorite sauces or peppers.

Huge in Japan too. I remember seeing how Tabasco made their sauces decades ago, and that actually kept me as a customer: 3 ingredients, last a long long time, adds to a dish without overpowering it, very portable, naturally aged....there's little not to like, and I find this stuff way better than competing brands like Red Rooster and Crystal.

A good part of the charm is the knowledge of the ageing process and the family's close involvement in the day to day running. Sipho Ndhlovu because there's a ton of bourbon that leeches into the hot sauce while aging.

I feel I can speak for all pacific islanders when I say Tabasco is staple condiment in our homes and Restaurants across the Pacific. We love the flavor and spice it brings and the only other hot sauce that competes to it but only by a fraction is Sriracha.

I think my letter to McIlhenny company decades ago, pleading with them to put little bottles of Tabasco sauce into C-Rats is why they are in MRE's today. I wrote them and gave them some of my own field recipes, and they sent me back a really nice cookbook, chef apron, hat, and a whole bunch of hot sauce. 3 years later, I opened an MRE (transition from c-rats) and boom. There was a little bottle of Tabasco. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. I love Tabasco, most other sauces have other non-natural ingredients, but Tabasco sticks to the 3 ingredients - vinegar, tabasco peppers, and salt. Perfection in a bottle. Thank you for making this video!
