It seems that you can find at least one Chinese Restaurant anywhere on the planet where there's a people. I used to enjoy Cuban Chinese in NYC. NYC has amazing Chinese food I must say!

I'm a major proponent of simple, plain white rice to handle all that tender chicken. Also, I was looking for any condiments in the form of chili oil/paste? Like you said, it'll do. On another channel, long ago, there was a shop which served Jamaican - Chinese food, I do remember it allllll looked fabulous. Enjoy your family vacation 😊✌️🍚❤

A busy place. This reminded me of trying a local pizza joint on Kauai. Was it the best pizza, no. But if you were tired of eating all the island foods and craving a slice or two, it filled that need for sure.

Looked like the most basic 3 star hole in the wall spot anywhere in the US and JL didn't seem very stoked by any of the entrees lol. Wild they serving french fries! Still cool they offer it in the DR

Had Chinese food in Saint Kitts, I do not recommend it. The rice they used was the parboiled stuff and the flavors were bland, but the place was packed.

You should go to LaMarque Texas to 888 Chinese Restaurant. Th Sesame Shrimp Rolls,Wonton Soup, Garlic Shrimp with Eggplant and Orange Chicken are great...

Nah, I'm Asian American born and raised in Queens and can say I prefer the GOOD Chinese spots in DR, PR or Cuba. It's way better on the islands.

I don’t want to start off with a negative right away so I want to say me and my wife love your work. We were very excited when you collaborated with Mark because we had be saying you guys needed to collab months before it happened. We love the success you’ve been having and pray it continues to come your way. Now, I hope this comment doesn’t come off as disrespectful or hating. You said that this place was good enough for you and that it isn’t up to NYC standards but, if a person has an open mind and craving, it would get the job done. You even described it as “great eats”. Now I wouldn’t call myself a Danny’s Wok stan at all. However, when you did that review, it never set right with me. From the opening, it seemed like you had a preset dislike for them. In the Danny’s Wok review, you stated that the chicken was just your “classic” chinese fried chicken. That was odd to me cause you said it with a negative connotation but what’s wrong with something being “classic”? You also stated that the shrimp fried rice was good and that the general tso, while not being the kind you prefer, had good flavor. Throughout the whole video though you kept asking “what’s the hype about?” Comments like “off the eye test I can tell this is just regular” left me baffled cause it was clear you weren’t being open minded. On top of that, I’ve watched you go to many Chinese food spots (including the most recent in DR) where off the eye test the food just looked regular. Despite that, other places receive praise, approval, and recommendation while Danny’s Wok received the bare minimum. You ended that review saying the spot was “alright” and “nothing crazy”. Im curious why a spot in the DR got a review that seemed like it came from a way more chill and (as you stated) open minded JL, but Danny’s Wok received such a mid tier and cold shouldered review? Mind you, I didn’t expect you to call Danny’s Wok “the best Chinese food in the world” or anything like that. However, based off the two reviews, both places seemed to deliver the same quality of food yet you deemed one “good enough for you” and the other “just alright”.

You're reading way too much into his comments. He's on vacation with his family in a country his wife has roots in. Nobody expects good Chinese food from there so its understandable that he basically said its good enough to eat but nothing Michelin. Simple. Like why ask why he's in the DR? He chose to share his vacation with his viewers. There's nothing but love and appreciation on my part. I found it interesting to see how food I'd normally eat tastes is in a complete different country like DR. All gravy. If anyone is contradicting themselves, it's you with your "it never set right with me". JL is a real cat and was just giving you his thoughts, which were very tangible.

Perfectly said! I felt the exact same way. This guy isn't a food critic, so I wouldn't take his word seriously. This shows you that when these guys get popular, they start thinking that their opinions are the norm, which they are not. I see this more of a comedy channel. Also, grown mam talking like he's a teenager! Pfffft. (Unsubbed) just came here because of Mark Wiens!

I read your comment & had to go back to the Danny Wok video to see your perspective. Now I don’t know JL or can’t speak for him, so I can only assume. I don’t think he was intentionally tryna disrespect Danny Wok. My opinion.. he gets a lot of people recommending certain places to him, I feel like this is one of those places people were hyping up. So he’s coming in there with high expectations expecting the fried chicken/food to be off the charts. When it tasted like every other Chinese spot, he was just disappointed. Now I can say, he beasted a lil too much on callin it regular & basic that many times lol I personally think he doesn’t truly recognize how much power he possesses in these reviews. People respect his recommendations, me included, being that I tried a few spots he filmed at. His opinion generated businesses a lot of revenue because of his good reviews, so I can see how a bad review could do the opposite. So idk if you work or own Danny Wok, & if you do I can see why you’re upset. But one thing I don’t want JL to do is lie about his reviews. I respect his authenticity & taste pallet. I actually like those videos when he’s brutally honest 🤷🏿‍♂️ JL I need you to do more videos in South Jersey tho. I’m near AC, I can’t keep making these trips lol But to answer you, I do feel where you’re coming from because Danny Wok food def did look better than this 😶 Peace & Love to all y’all ❤️
