Instanbul was Constadinopole back in years but when Othomans ruled it it got a different name . So Byzantium was Greek and baklava was also Greek

I am from the Black Sea so prefer the Greek Island food rather than mainland. Love seafood especially anchovies, sardines and it taste so good in Greek Islands.

@@frfras7 I didn't say I was Pontiac. I am Laz, and we don't speak Greek but Kartvelian language spoken. President Erdogan's from Black Sea as well but his family is Georgian. Georgian, Pontus or Laz, on diet consist of fish and green leafed vegetables, beetroot etc. Greek Islands consume a lot of fish and many fish recipes very similar to the Black Sea diet.

@@frfras7 Oh o.k! Thank you for clearing that out. I thought you were saying something else. What I was saying is, our food is different than the rest of Turkiye, very similar to Greek food so we prefer , enjoy Greek food. The only thing is we use cornbread,a and also a speciality dish with cornmeal and cheese. I think Greece do not use cornbread. Also, we have a bread made with wheat as well but cooked in a wood fire - Trabzon ekmeği.

Harriet and i always enjoy Greek food. We never got to Thessaloniki. Hopefully sooner than later we will get there among other cities in Greece and the Islands. Oddly, as much as i enjoy Greek food . The mix of Coca Cola and Retsina is called Toumba Libre in Thessaloniki because it took it's name from Toumba Stadium (the stadium of PAOK). It's the favorite drink of PAOK fans and that's how it got it's name! Great vlog and i hope you will be able to revisit Thessaloniki because it has so much more stuff to explore!

11:16 that was not baklava:P more like kantaifi. Also baklava originates from modern day turkey geographically yes, but back in the day it was greek populated:P

Baklava is still a turkish thing, and not Hellenic, which is also totally irrelevant if Minor Asia were populated with Hellenes in the past.

So Retsina (Malamatina is the brand) resembles alot to Champagne but without the sparkles. You can combine it with Coke (Coca Cola) or Soda Water (for neutral flavour). My dad was adding drops of lemon to add some acidic flavouring but i havent tryed it so i dont have an opinion on it! Next time tou visit Greece or SKG specifically, try Choureal (great desserts) and Goodys (the Greek opponent of McDonalds but on the more natural side.

The awnings are also very prevalent in Monaco and places where the Summer's hot Sun shines right onto peoples' homes, businesses and etc. They provide brilliant, epic shade, really. They ARE necessary.

I live in Thessaloniki but I am from Crete. The food here is sooo tasty! Next time you better try trigona from someone who fills the crusty part with custard cream the time you order the sweet and do not take it ready.

Last day in Greece in beautiful Thessaloniki! Best way to end your first but not your last time in Greece I hope. How did you survive this heat without drinking Freddo or Frape😅😅 I was in Thessaloniki and Chalkidiki from 30 june to 25 Juli and drank 2-3 a day and let's not talk about the number of gyros! 😂

@@JadoEdits I'm from Greece and I just came back from Turkey! Turkey is a beautiful country, it has so many things to offer and some of the most best places in the world. Turkish people are typically very friendly, generous and hospitable, very similar to Greeks. Also, both Turkish and Greek cuisines are similar. There is nothing separating us from the Turkish people. It's all THEIR fault (Politics).

Yes, turkish simit and greek koulouri are practically the same.. I don't know if turks cut it and place inside slises of cheese, ham, tomato etc. Espresso obviously is italian. What Greeks did is making its cold version.. there comes the innovation. Especially in hot greek summers you don't want a hot espresso, you need something refreshing, a cold coffee to drink. About retsina.. it's white wine enriched with raisin. I would prefer it without coke. If you find it very strong, which I think is the case, you can add some water. After all this is the way ancient Greeks were drinking wine.. with water added.
