Ribena, cordial, squash - I totally knew what he was talking about lol, as you give Ribena to kids to rehydrate after illness. The seminar was very interesting, cool artwork of Bruce Lee and the chair story was fascinating too.

This is kind of crazy, but TIL that my international kindergarten was right next to Bruce Lee's former home. I had no idea. It's just that the footage of the street you walked down triggered memories I had and I had to google it.

Class was amazing! I’m hooked! In 2016 you you all changed my life with hiking. Fast forward to 2023. I’m so loving martial arts. There are about 30 of us training at the dojo, the Sufi is fantastic. I was most nervous about the warm-up than anything else, and I had to make a few modifications, but I made it! Next class is Monday. ❤

Thanks so much for this series of coverage. I thought I knew Hong Kong but there are so many things about kung fu in the territory sound so much another-worldly. Also amazing is that girl knows snacks around Mongkok like the back of her hand. Thanks again.

I’m wondering, as a lifelong martial artist myself, if any of your trip companions and yourself were troubled by the dichotomy of reverence to both Bruce Lee and Yip Man’s perceived mantles of the martial art community and culture and the vices (drugs and infidelity) that troubled their lives. Obviously, they were just as human as the next man. These are topics not discussed often, as many prefer to immortalize them as legends and talents to be emulated.
@AdventureArchives

Good question! I actually rambled a bit about this on camera but ended up cutting it out. I don't want to speak for any one else but I think some of the people on the tour probably felt troubled with the revelation about the drug letters. Personally, I felt that a lot of the flaws and vices Bruce Lee partook in just humanize him more. People in general look up to rockstars who do all that and more, and Bruce certainly had a bit of a rockstar personality, so it doesn't bother me so much that he succumbed to different vices. If anything it makes him more relatable in a way. What are your thought? And thanks for watching! -Andrew
@erniesbudolab
@erniesbudolab 8 ай бұрын
@@AdventureArchives Thanks for your reply Andrew. As for my thoughts, I think it’s appropriate to be inspired by Bruce Lee and Yip Man’s accomplishments and contributions to the martial arts. Yes, they were “rockstars”, but I take issue with the way some people assign them saint-like statuses. As Asians, we honor our ancestors and our teachers by building shrines, offer prayers, and continue teaching and promoting their martial ways. That does not, however, elevate them to the level of gods. I don’t think either of them wanted that.
