Eating Loatian food with locals in Luang Prabang 🇱🇦

We had 24 hours in Luang Prabang, Loas, and what better way to spend it, than eating loatian food with laotian locals and our new friends.
When we started our Laos adventure, we met a guy called Xayphone, our guide on our 2 day mekong river cruise. When we completed the trip, he invited us to his house to eat with him and try some Loatian food. There was no way we were going to say no. Our friends Steve and Anouke also joined us (I'm sure you will remember their faces from the boat cruise).
As we were going to help make the laotian food, we first had to buy the ingredients. When walking around the market, we found very interesting food for sale. Food that we definitely did not want to eat but Xayphone was not going to let us run away without getting a good taste of the loatian food. Let's just say that there were rats, and frogs there to buy :0
But before heading to the market to buy the ingrediants to cook our food, We decided to rent a scooter in Luang Prabang and head to Kuang Si waterfalls. Apprently this is one of the best waterfalls to see in Laos. Upon our arrival, we stumbled upon some sun and moon bears which was totally unexpected. We have never seen a bear before so this was our first time.
As we have said many times, Loas is starting to become one of our favourite countries.

Wow, the experience in this video is definitely not like usual! I am a Tourism student and I really like when the tourists don't just visit tourist spots, but also try to get closer to the community and learn about their culture. You guys are literally involved with the locals and even get hands-on experience in their culinary. That is amazing and keep it up on your every adventure!

am late to catch up.. just got caught with work and that robbed all my relaxing time. But this was worth the wait.. Wow .. just wow.. I know you just came across Free the Bears but I'm so glad you shared it with your viewers. They are an extremely wonderful and hard working charity, based in Laos but have centres in Vietnam and Cambodia too. They rescue bears from bile farms, illegal trade and captivity whilst educating the locals about conservation. You can volunteer with their charity too 😊🐻❤

I read up a bit about the organisation when we got home that day. Its so heartbreaking ti learn where the bears come from but so happy for charities like this that help the bears🐻

Those were very beautiful falls and the water looked very inviting But Leeann, sorry these falls don’t compare at all to Niagara Falls. Hope you can come see them someday. BTW the view from the Canadian side is the best! As well as Niagara on the lake ON. Is the best!

The live market looks similar to the ones seen in Nagaland, India. You see all these like frogs, silk worm, cat fish, dog meat etc.
